I'm following the market and fading their first meeting by taking the Under 231.5, down to 228.5.
The San Antonio Spurs destroyed the Sacramento Kings 130-103 on Oct. 27, barely clearing 232.5. Yet the market lowered this total despite their first meeting going Over, which raised my spidey senses.
They played at a 99.2 pace last month, which would rank 18th for a team. Plus, I lean toward San Antonio covering -16.5, and the Spurs are 18-12 to the Under when winning by 15+ points since the beginning of last season.
Meanwhile, neither forces many turnovers and both rank top-10 in defensive rebounding rate. Turnovers lead to easy points on the other end of the floor and offensive rebounds lead to second-chance points.
COVERS INTEL: The Spurs and Kings combined for 233 points in their first meeting, but San Antonio shot an absurd 10-for-14 (71.4%) on corner threes. The Spurs are shooting just 32.2% from deep this season. One fewer made three in that blowout would've cashed Under 231.5.

I’m only risking 0.25 units on my NBA combos, and I like the way these three angles fit together. San Antonio can control the game without needing much offensive contribution from Sacramento.
Spurs wing Julian Champagnie can still knock down enough threes because so much of his value comes from spot-up shooting, while Kings rookie point guard Darius Acuff Jr. can stay involved as a scorer without piling up assists if Sacramento keeps wasting possessions.
That’s the kind of scoring distribution I’m chasing.
Let the Spurs create the cleaner offense, let Champagnie do his damage from deep, and make Sacramento manufacture everything the hard way.

Champagnie hit eight 3-pointers against Sacramento earlier this season, all in the first half. The Kings have the third-worst wide-open defensive 3-point attempt rate in the Association. I blame that on them having to cover for big Domantas Sabonis' defensive liabilities.
Regardless, roughly 90% of Champagnie's shots are from behind the arc, and he is averaging a team-best 2.8 made threes per game. Even if the Spurs blow Sacramento out again, Champagnie's 3-and-D role should keep him involved enough to clear this number.
Kings player prop: Darius Acuff Jr. Under 5.5 assists
As long as the Under on Darius Acuff Jr.'s 5.5-assist prop stays below 53%, I'm in.
Acuff has dished out six or more assists in half of his games this season, but he finished with only five against San Antonio last month.
The matchup makes another modest assist total realistic. Sacramento ranks 27th in assists per game and 21st in effective field goal rate (eFG%), while San Antonio ranks third defensively in eFG%. Even when Acuff creates a clean look, his teammates still have to finish it.
Finally, the Spurs rank eighth in assists allowed to opposing point guards, giving me another reason to fade a six-assist night.
