Tigers vs Mariners Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

Tarik Skubal labored a bit through his first outing, but that's not entirely surprising as the Tigers lefty had to shake off the rust by immediately facing the Dodgers. He'll rack up the Ks tonight in a much softer landing spot vs. the Mariners.

The Detroit Tigers seek their first series sweep of the season when they meet the Seattle Mariners in the third of a three-game set today at T-Mobile Field.

Detroit ace Tarik Skubal was roughed up in his opening start, but my Tigers vs. Mariners predictions expect a bounce-back outing for the Detroit southpaw.

Read on for my MLB picks for Wednesday, April 2.

Tigers vs Mariners prediction

My Tigers vs Mariners best bet: Tarik Skubal Over 7.5 strikeouts (+125 at DraftKings)

Detroit Tigers lefty ace Tarik Skubal is coming off a rough start to the season.

The unanimous reigning American League Cy Young Award winner struck out two while surrendering a couple of home runs in a 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fortunately for Skubal, the Dodgers aren’t sitting in the home dugout tonight. Instead, it's the Seattle Mariners hoping not to get swept at home.

The Mariners have scored only 15 runs this season, primarily because they chase too many pitches.

Seattle has a 27% strikeout rate, with several players boasting chase rates north of 22%. That’s not good when facing any pitcher, but especially not against Skubal.

Skubal loves to pitch against aggressive offenses with high chase/strikeout rates. His 21% chase rate and career 10.15 whiffs per nine testify to this, and he has a good chance to strike out 8+ today.

With Luis Castillo on the bump, Seattle won’t likely need to score many runs, and they’ll be looking to go big with one swing.

That’s where Seattle's ballooning chase rate comes into play.

Skubal has whiffed this current lineup 15 times across 45 at-bats, and that is why I expect the Tigers ace to sit down a bunch of Mariners today.

Tigers vs Mariners same-game parlay (SGP)

Tarik Skubal Over 7.5 strikeouts

Manuel Margot 1+ hits

Randy Arozarena 1+ hits

I like Skubal’s strikeout prop today, but I would be remiss if I neglected to add the Mariners OF Randy Arozarena to get a hit.

Arozarena is off to a slow start, but he has four hits across 13 at-bats against Skubal and a .280 lifetime batting average against lefties.

We’ll round out this three-legger with Tigers OF Manuel Margot to get a hit. The veteran makes plenty of contact and is riding a three-game hitting streak entering today’s clash.
