The Toronto Blue Jays have gone 19-10 in their last 29 tilts to pull within three games of AL East-leading New York Yankees, who come to town for a four-game set.

The opener features an intriguing pitching matchup as Max Scherzer takes on Carlos Rodon, with my Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks looking at a not-so-secret weapon to help the home team strike in this June 30 matchup.

Blue Jays predictions for June 30

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Daddy Vladdy comes through

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.0 hits (+115 at BetVictor)

The not-so-secret weapon is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Shocker, I know.

Carlos Rodon has been impressive this season, but Vladdy has owned Rodon when the two have matched up in the past.

Let’s start with this: Guerrero is one of the best hitters in baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays’ star slugger enters this series ranked in the 100th percentile in expected batting average and the 94th in expected slugging. He’s also locked in right now, hitting .317 with a 1.123 OPS, four home runs, and 10 RBI over his last 10 games.

Vladdy has also been a nightmare for southpaws all season long, getting to them for a .343 average and a .980 OPS.

Rodon has been mostly solid, but when he’s hit, he’s hit hard. The lefty ranks in the 57th percentile in average exit velocity, the 45th percentile in barrel rate, and the 58th percentile in hard-hit percentage. This means guys with natural power — like Vlad — could be a problem for Rodon, which is exactly what has happened to this point.

Vladdy is a ridiculous 8-for-12 with two doubles, a dinger, and three walks in 15 career plate appearances vs. Rodon, which works out to a .417 xBA and a .666 xSLG.

Guerrero already has nine multi-hit games in June, and at plus money, I’m backing him to do it one more time before July.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

Ernie Clement Over 1.5 total bases

Max Scherzer Over 4.5 strikeouts

For today’s same-game parlay, let’s alter the Vladdy bet a little to Over 1.5 total bases. This way we can cash on just one double.

Guerrero isn’t the only Blue Jay crushing left-handed pitching. Well, a lot of them are, but I’m talking about Ernie Clement.

The Jays’ third baseman has been impressive this season, hitting .304, but the numbers vs. lefties are insane, where he's hitting .425 with a 1.185 OPS.

Max Scherzer is making his second start following his long IL stint. He struck out four over five innings last time out against the Cleveland Guardians, and I like him to improve on that this time around.

Not only should Scherzer be a little more primed, but the Yankees rank 18th in OPS and have the seventh-highest strikeout rate vs. right-handed pitchers in June.
