The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will look to hold court in the NFC South with a win over the divisional rival New Orleans Saints on Sunday, December 7.

Raymond James Field will play host to the Week 14 showdown, and my early Saints vs. Buccaneers predictions and NFL picks are calling for Tampa to cover with the total going Under the number.

Early Saints vs Buccaneers spread pick: Buccaneers -8.5

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers returned to the win column in Week 13 with a 20-17 home victory over the Arizona Cardinals, and I’m expecting the New Orleans Saints and rookie quarterback Tyler Shough to be in tough against the Bucs at Raymond James Stadium this week, too.

Tampa Bay entered Week 13 ranked seventh in defensive DVOA, and the Bucs are healthier on offense with running back Bucky Irving back in action and both QB Baker Mayfield and wide-out Chris Godwin showing better against the Cards.

New Orleans stands to be outmatched on both sides of the ball, with the Saints ranking 28th in offensive DVOA leading into Week 13 and averaging just 15.2 points per game for the year.

Defensively, the Saints are tougher, but I also value Tampa Bay going into the Caesars Superdome in Week 8 and topping New Orleans 23-3.

Additionally, the Bucs are in the hunt to win the NFC South, while the 2-10 Saints are looking ahead to next season with nothing to play for.

Plus, the Saints have already lost by double-digits six times this season.

Early Saints vs Buccaneers total pick: Under 42.5

In addition to the highlighted mismatch favoring the Tampa Bay defense, New Orleans has also shown off slightly better defensively this season.

The Saints were 19th in defensive DVOA before their loss to the Miami Dolphins last week, and they’ve allowed a middling 12th-lowest yards and 15th-lowest EPA per play.

So, it isn’t surprising the basement-dwelling New Orleans offense and middling defense haven’t played to the Over since Week 4.

Plus, the Saints and Bucs have hit the Under in six of their past eight meetings.

Saints vs Buccaneers odds
