No matter who's at quarterback for Washington, they'll be a bettermoption than anyone who is throwing for Minnesota.

Two teams that entered the season with far higher expectations meet in Week 14 as the Washington Commanders travel to U.S. Bank Stadium to face the Minnesota Vikings.

With Jayden Daniels trending toward a possible return, my early Commanders vs. Vikings prediction leans toward Washington finally ending its seven-game skid.

Read on for my NFL picks for Sunday, December 7.

Early Commanders vs Vikings spread pick: Commanders -1.5

-105 at FanDuel

The Washington Commanders could get Jayden Daniels back this week, and even if he’s not fully cleared, Marcus Mariota still gives the Commanders an edge under center.

Mariota is simply more reliable at this stage than Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks JJ McCarthy or Max Brosmer, and that stability should matter in a matchup where both teams have struggled to finish drives.

Minnesota certainly has the flashier skill weapons. Justin Jefferson remains one of the NFL’s elite receivers, and T.J. Hockenson is a proven chain-mover.

But despite that talent, the Vikings have managed only 42 total points across their last four outings. That lack of production is tough to ignore, especially with their quarterback situation still unsettled.

The Vikes do own the better defense, but my early read is Washington’s offense finally outperforms its own leaky defense and snaps the seven-game losing streak.

If Daniels is active, expect the line to move fast, so grab the early number now.

Early Commanders vs Vikings total pick: Over 41.5

-110 at FanDuel

I’ll lean Over, especially with the likelihood this number climbs once injury news becomes official.

Washington’s defense has been one of the league’s most reliable Over triggers, consistently allowing explosive plays and struggling to get off the field.

Minnesota should benefit from that, particularly if McCarthy returns. He’s shown just enough command and has enough talent around him to put points on the board at home.

Of course, McCarthy’s volatility also fuels the Over. He’s thrown 10 interceptions already, and the matchup suggests he’s likely to toss at least one more.

That sets Washington up with shorter fields and easier scoring opportunities. If Daniels returns, the Commanders’ offense becomes far more explosive and should be able to produce points even against a solid Minnesota defense that’s still giving up 23 points per game.
