Finland vs Belgium predictions

Moneyline pick

The world's No. 1 team, Belgium, managed to get through a difficult game against Denmark with a late 2-1 victory. Now, barring a big loss to Finland, they should have their group secure. As a result, they are likely to rotate their squad a fair bit, with key players like Romelu Lukaku in line for a rest.

While Lukaku and their aging defense may get the game off, other vital parts like Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, and Axel Witsel could see some game time, as they work back to full fitness. As De Bruyne proved against Denmark, he doesn't need a full 90 to completely change a game, with his substitution performance turning out to be a match-winner.

Finland may only need a point to give themselves a great chance of progressing out of the group, but that does little to change their approach in this one. As they have done against Denmark and Russia, Finland will sit deep and try to hit on the counter or via set pieces. They may do a decent job of keeping Belgium out for a large portion of the game, but whether it's Belgium's reserves or a substitute around the hour mark, their opponents have the skill to get by even without a full-strength team.

They may not need it, but Belgium will take another win in the group stage.

PREDICTION: Belgium (-334)

Over/Under pick

Belgium found themselves in a familiar spot in the 2018 World Cup, already having progressed but not with first-place in hand. Despite their uncertain position, Belgium rolled out a reserve team and played a lethargic outing against England, in which they won 1-0 in a game neither team looked threatening in.

We can expect a similarly passive performance in this one, with Belgium not needing to push high or try to create a litany of chances. Their talent and Finland's tactical approach will still have them in control of possession for the most part and creating the majority of chances, but it shouldn't be surprising to see Belgium lack a clinical final touch in this one.

If Belgium are ahead by a goal late and Finland needs to start to push and play more expansive, there's a chance they're punished more than once and the total goes Over. But the majority of this game is going to be as attacking as Belgium want it to be, and history tells us they'll be happy to cruise through to the Round of 16.

PREDICTION: Under 2.5 (-110)
