Auston Matthews has been firing at will over his last two contests, and the Maple Leafs captain will not be slowed by the Predators tonight.

We’ve got eight games on the NHL betting slate tonight, including a cross-conference matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Nashville Predators.

Auston Matthews has been firing everything toward the goal, and my Predators vs. Maple Leafs predictions expect more of the same from the captain tonight, as the Buds look to get to their winning ways at Scotiabank Arena.

Predators vs Maple Leafs prediction

Predators vs Maple Leafs Best bet: Auston Matthews Over 3.5 shots on goal (-140)

The Toronto Maple Leafs host the Nashville Predators tonight in the second leg of a back-to-back for both clubs, which should make for a bit of a sloppier matchup.

The player I’m eyeing to take advantage of is Auston Matthews, and it’s his 3.5 shot prop market that specifically intrigues me.

Since being virtually shut out in the shooting department in the season opener, he’s been firing everything he can toward the net.

The Leafs’ captain has hit the Over on his shots prop in back-to-back games after registering six and eight SOG, respectively, in the two games against Detroit this weekend.

Moreover, Nashville's defense has been leaky throughout the early portion of the season, allowing 31.7 shots per game, which ranks 24th in the NHL.

Additionally, Matthews has gone over his posted total of 3.5 shots in seven of the last eight meetings against the Preds, averaging 5.1 shots per game.

Considering the Preds are starting backup netminder Justice Annunen, I expect the Matthews-led Leafs to pepper the net to try and overwhelm the career .895 goaltender.

Predators vs Maple Leafs same-game parlay

Matthew Knies is the Robin to Matthews’ Batman now, and is the most likely teammate to factor in on his goals since they play together at both 5-on-5 and on the power play. Knies has also gone over this number in two of the three games this season.

For the final leg of the SGP, give me Morgan Rielly to go Over 1.5 shots again. He’s hit the Over in all three games so far this season, and his willingness to shoot has made him a threat from the point.

Predators vs Maple Leafs SGP

  • Auston Matthews Over 3.5 shots on goal
  • Matthew Knies Over 0.5 assists
  • Morgan Rielly Over 1.5 shots on goal
