Oilers vs Golden Knights player props for May 8

Noah Hanifin Over 1.5 shots (-135 at Bet99)

Noah Hanifin quietly ranked second on the Golden Knights in 5-on-5 shot attempts during the regular season. Only Pavel Dorofeyev generated more volume than Hanifin, and his status for this game is very much in doubt after missing yet another practice on Thursday.

Alex Pietrangelo is also a question mark for Game 2, which could lead to even more opportunity for Hanifin.

The defenseman recorded multiple shots on target in 64% of home games this season. Although he didn’t do so in the series opener, he did throw four pucks toward the goal.

Hanifin cleared 1.5 shots in 80% of home games when attempting at least four shots this season. If he can get in that ballpark — which seems likely based on injuries and a home average of 5.2 attempts this year — he has a very strong chance of coming through this time.

Evander Kane Over 2.5 shots (+140 at Bet99)

Evander Kane was quiet in his first game back from injury, recording just two attempts in Game 2 against the Kings, but he's since looked like the Kane of old, recording 16 shots in five games while attempting at least seven shots in four of those games — including Game 1 against the Golden Knights.

Kane led all skaters on either team with seven 5-on-5 shot attempts in Game 1, four of which were considered scoring chances. He did a good job of generating looks in tight, where it’s obviously much easier to hit the target.

Kane has a fantastic track record against the Golden Knights, recording three shots or more in six of the last seven head-to-head meetings.

Given his history against Vegas, how quickly he has shaken off the rust, and that head coach Kris Knoblauch is sneaking him in the occasional shift with superstars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, this feels like a very generous price for Kane.

Evan Bouchard Under 2.5 shots (-130 at Bet99)

Evan Bouchard is unquestionably one of the best offensive defensemen in the sport, but he’s done more damage with his passing than shooting of late. He's only cleared 2.5 shots in eight of the last 20 games and just two of the six playoff games that haven’t needed extra time.

The Golden Knights also limit shots very effectively against defensemen, which has shown when the two sides have clashed, especially in Vegas. Bouchard has averaged just 1.8 shots and posted a 27% hit rate over the last 11 road games against the Golden Knights dating back years.

Vegas ranks 11th in shot suppression in Bouchard’s primary shooting zone over the last 20 games, so there isn’t much reason to expect a spike in numbers now.

Not to mention, the Golden Knights will surely have a much better effort in Game 2. They do not want to fall into a 0-2 hole going back to Edmonton.
