The Dallas Stars are scoring in bunches, but they're giving up plenty of goals as well. Expect this game to turn into a shootout.

The Dallas Stars are set to clash with the Colorado Avalanche in what should be a thrilling contest.

It’s been an ugly week for Dallas as it has allowed six goals in back-to-back games, and my Avalanche vs. Stars predictions plenty more goals tonight.

Find out more in my NHL picks for November 29 below.

My analysis
It’s been an ugly month of November for the Dallas Stars, who have a record of 6-6-0 and have allowed the sixth most goals against per game (3.25).

The Stars have been talked about as one of the elite Stanley Cup contenders, but those conversations have gotten a bit quiet in the last few weeks. There’s been a ton of inconsistency with this team.

On the flip side, the Colorado Avalanche are winning games as they’re 8-4-0 in their last 12, but the pucks are still going in against them, which seems to be a common trend for this team. In those 12 games, the Avs are both allowing and scoring 3.17 goals per game.

Colorado is coming off of a low-scoring battle against the Vegas Golden Knights where it only scored on one of its 34 shots, so I expect the offense to break through a bit more tonight against a struggling Dallas side.

Jake Oettinger is expected to be in goal for the Stars tonight, and in his last nine starts, he sports an .892 SV%, which is uncharacteristic of him. This isn’t the Dallas team that we’re used to seeing.

On the offensive side of the puck, both of these teams know how to generate. Dallas is currently skating to the third most high-danger chances in the league, averaging 13.04 per game, while the Avalanche have the fifth most, generating 12.63 per 60.

Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon both have 17 points in their last 12 games. They, along with Cale Makar, like always, will be the players to watch for Colorado.

Meanwhile, for Dallas. Matt Duchene has been on a bit of a tear, with 15 points in his last 12 games.

Avalanche vs Stars same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 6.5

Matt Duchene 1+ point

Cale Makar 2+ points

Duchene loves playing against his former team and the organization that drafted him. In 16 career games against Colorado, Duchene has put up 12 goals with five assists for 17 points.

He’s currently on a three-game point streak, tallying two goals with three assists in that span, and should be able to keep it rolling today.

Believe it or not, Makar has actually been held pointless in his last two games, so he is due for a big night.

Makar has registered nine multi-point games this season, so this is not uncommon for the all-star defensemen.
