Early Titans vs Broncos Predictions, Picks & Odds for Week 1

Cam Ward will receive his NFL baptism at Mile High when his Titans face the Broncos. It won't go well. Denver should give Tennessee all it can handle and then some.

The Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos square off in Week 1 at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday, September 7, and all eyes will be on quarterback Cam Ward in his NFL debut.

Denver sends out an elite defense, and my top NFL picks and Titans vs. Broncos predictions expect the Tennessee rookie to struggle at altitude in the season opener.

Titans vs Broncos predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Titans vs Broncos spread pick: Broncos -7.5 (-115)

The only question in this Week 1 tilt between the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos is how many points is too many points to lay with the Orange and Blue?

Tennessee quarterback Cam Ward will be up against it early and often, and I’m not expecting the rookie to mount much of an offensive attack against one of the best defenses in the NFL in his debut, especially at altitude.

It’s also a Denver defense that added veteran punch with linebacker Dre Greenlaw and safety Talanoa Hufanga joining the fold this offseason.

The Tennessee defense doesn’t have the personnel to give Broncos quarterback Bo Nix any headaches, either, which will prove all the more true if he’s given short fields all afternoon.

Of course, the deal sealer is that the Broncos have also been a cash cow in home openers, with a 20-5 record that includes going 14-7-4 against the spread dating back to 2000.

Early Titans vs Broncos total pick: Under 42.5 (-110)

I expect Broncos head coach Sean Payton to have the luxury of running the football and churning the clock in garbage time.

The Titans don’t have the offensive firepower around Ward to move the chains and put points on the board against the Denver defense, so I think the Broncos will be up comfortably in short order.

The key will be Denver taking its offensive foot off the pedal because I don’t have oodles of confidence in the Tennessee defense halting drives.

Still, if Nix isn’t firing on all cylinders early, and a red-zone trip or two result in field goals instead of TDs, this total can easily fall Under the number.

Titans vs Broncos odds
