The Los Angeles Rams not only face a short turnaround but the energy-sapping thin air when they go up the mountain to face the Denver Broncos in Week 3.

Los Angeles is coming off a one-sided win over New York on Monday and is a slim road favorite in a possible Super Bowl XLI preview on Sunday Night Football.

My Rams vs. Broncos predictions break down this non-conference clash and give my early leans and NFL picks for Sept. 27.

Early Rams vs Broncos spread pick: Rams outright

Kalshi probability: 55%

My early lean is toward the Los Angeles Rams to win outright but this won’t be an easy outing. Should the spread tick up, I could get interested in the Denver Broncos as home pups.

The Denver Broncos have concerns at running back with R.J. Harvey sitting out Week 2 and J.K. Dobbins is nursing a hamstring injury. Without a reliable ground game, pressure mounts on quarterback Bo Nix.

Nix has been up and down in the first two games with offensive coordinator Davis Webb calling plays. He’s coming off a solid showing in Week 2 but takes a step up against a talented L.A. secondary.

Nix has thrown an interception in each of his first two games and despite an offense that doesn’t ask him to push the ball downfield, he’s in the lower third of quarterbacks in terms of bad pass rate.

A miscue from Nix could very well be the difference on Sunday night.

Early Rams vs Broncos total pick: Under 44.5

Kalshi probability: 51%

The Rams looked like the Big Game favorites in Week 2, squashing New York on Monday night. That said, the Giants lost starting QB Jaxson Dart early on and things didn’t get better.

I’m more impressed with the Broncos’ home victory over Jacksonville last weekend. That was a battle between two of the better sides in the AFC and the Broncos tightened their belts in the second half, outscoring Jacksonville 17-3 in the final 30 minutes.

These two stop units entered 2026 rated among the Top 5 in defense and after some wonky results in the opening two weeks, things settle in on SNF.

If the run game is thin for Denver, Nix will be under fire and an already conservative pass attack will get even shorter.

The Rams have a potent two-pronged weapon in running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Los Angeles is averaging five yards per carry and has the top-rated run block in terms of adjusted line yards at PFF.

If there’s been a soft spot for this Denver defense, it’s been against the rush. The Broncos are dead last in EPA allowed per carry and 24th in opponent success rate per run, allowing 5.1 yards per carry over the first two weeks.

Short gains and two top defenses that don’t allow many explosive plays lean into the Under 44.5.
