Who will win Northwestern vs Indiana: Indiana -21.5
I love the Indiana Hoosiers at -21.5 over the Northwestern Wildcats, and I'd be willing to trade Indiana up to its opening spread of -23.5. It feels like the market move is a pump fake by sharps to get the Hoosiers at a better price.
Sure, Northwestern has won and covered its first two games, while Indiana is 0-3 against the spread (ATS), but the Hoosiers won their three games by an average of 43 points, so they aren't playing poorly. They've been favored by an average of 48 points, making this a buy-low spot.
Curt Cignetti replaced a ton of talent from his title-winning team, and I expect Indiana to improve as the season progresses. Transfer quarterback Josh Hoover is playing better through three games than Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza was last year.

While Indiana's offense has been rolling, pace is one of the most important factors when handicapping totals, and the Wildcats rank 119th nationally in offensive seconds per play, while the Hoosiers rank 123rd.
Also, Northwestern wide receiver Hayden Eligon II is doubtful, and All-Big Ten honorable mention guard Ezomo Oratokhai has been ruled out. Ultimately, I just don't see how the Wildcats move the ball against an Indiana defense allowing just 5.3 points per game.

I'm willing to go as low as Under 24.5 on the first-half total since that's more of a key number in football. For example, 17-7, 21-3, 24-0, and 14-10 are all common score combinations built around touchdowns and field goals.
Furthermore, both teams have a run-heavy offense, so I'm banking on this game starting slow. More rushing means a moving clock and fewer first-half possessions. The Wildcats averaged just 3.6 yards per rush in their only game against an FBS school (a 41-7 win over Colorado).

This combo is built around Indiana winning at the line of scrimmage and dictating the game from there.
Northwestern plays at a crawl, leans heavily on the run, and enters the game dealing with key offensive absences, while the Hoosiers have one of the best defenses in the country.
If Indiana gets ahead of the sticks and builds an early lead, the Wildcats should struggle to sustain drives, allowing the Hoosiers to control possession and grind out a low-scoring blowout.
