🤬 LSU vs Ole Miss: Over 57.5
Who's hatin: Frankly, both sides.
Why I'm hatin: The comedy has already ensued after last night's news that LSU star quarterback Sam Leavitt is doubtful to play on Saturday. Is that true, or is LSU head coach Lane Kiffin doing what he does best — trolling?
You know where I am leaning — Leavitt is playing. If not, there should still be points in this matchup. If you are looking for my lean in this matchup, I sadly could talk myself into taking either side, which is why I want to root for mayhem with the Over.
This is the most [insert meme of the two guys in the street giving each other the bird while oncoming traffic is passing] thing imaginable. Storylines like these are what make sports so great.
You have a former head coach in Kiffin of the hometown team coming into his first game back since running off to Baton Rouge for a better job after making Ole Miss relevant for the first time since the Hugh Freeze era. After that coach left, that team comes together and goes on an iconic run in the College Football Playoff, riding off fumes of fury and trying to prove they never needed him.
They return the backup quarterback who became a star in Trinidad Chambliss, and are now looking to run back their miraculous run from a season ago, but first they have to stick it to their former coach.
On the other side, you have one of the biggest villains in the sport in Kiffin, who has completely loaded up this LSU program. He has even gone out and tried to bring in former NFL players.
He added all the talent he possibly could, most notably the No. 1 overall player and top quarterback in the 2026 transfer portal class, who is the one that is "doubtful" for Saturday. He now has to go back to Oxford, Miss., which will easily be the most hostile environment for Week 3.
We should fully expect a fast-paced, high-tempo game filled with points. I snagged the Over at 58.5. Get a better number than me while Leavitt is "doubtful."
🤬 UTSA vs Texas: UTSA +30.5
Who's hatin: Arch Manning, Steve Sarkisian, AI.
Why I'm hatin: With how the landscape of betting has transformed, what used to be good spots to fade and back teams have mostly gone extinct. But here we have Texas coming off a massive comeback against top-ranked Ohio State last week, while having to go into Neyland next weekend against Tennessee.
Are the Longhorns fully preparing for the UTSA Roadrunners in Week 3? Like Sam Leavitt this week, doubtful.
On top of all of that, the team added unnecessary off-the-field distractions. Starting with head coach Steve Sarkisian blowing off Holly Rowe after their win against Ohio State, then star quarterback Arch Manning laughing to the media about a very offensive AI video between Sarkisian and Rowe, which led to Manning having to apologize.
I highly doubt this is a game where the Longhorns go all out when their SEC schedule starts the following week. They should get out to an early lead and park the bus.
For those aware of the Roadrunners' game, they are coming off beating Texas State last week, whom people forget put up almost 400 total yards of offense on this same Texas team. In this Week 2 win, UTSA put up nearly 400 total yards of offense while having zero turnovers in their 31-26 win.
Meep Meep! Trust the Roadrunners to keep it within 30! I would take this down to +28.5 at the most, dig for 30.5.
😡 North Texas vs Texas State: Texas State moneyline
Who's hatin: Texas State. They are done losing to Texas schools.
Why I'm hatin: I absolutely love the Texas State Bobcats at home against the North Texas Mean Green this weekend.
Despite the Bobcats’ 0-2 record, this is a very talented football team. In Week 1, they put up nearly 350 total yards of offense against Texas. Sadly, they only scored seven points in their 59-7 loss, but they also turned the ball over three times.
The same issue happened in Week 2 against UTSA, as Texas State turned the ball over three times in its 31-26 loss. That was a matchup where the Bobcats outgained the Roadrunners by nearly 100 yards.
I think this team is far better than its record shows, and people will be too focused on North Texas being an underdog following its massive win over UNLV, which was on the island the week prior. Plus, I am sure someone is out there trying to sell you that this is a revenge game from the 2025 First Responder Bowl, which was the last time these two teams faced off.
That was last season. It does not count.
This is a spot where the Bobcats get themselves back on track and secure their first win of the season.
I paid the juice on the moneyline, as I was able to get it under 60%. If you're unable to, just take Texas State to cover at -2.5.
🤬 Florida State vs Alabama: Alabama -20.5
Who's hatin: Alabama fans.
Why I'm hatin: There's been a lot of discourse on coaches who are on the hot seat, but one coach has the burner always lit, and it will always be lit until he wins himself a national title. That coach is Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, who still has to prove he is worthy of filling in for college football legend Nick Saban.
Let's be real here, nobody was going to be able to fill those massive shoes. It is like Nate Robinson doing suicide drills in Shaq's shoes (if you know, you know).
However, this matchup against Florida State has easily been on DeBoer's mind for over a year, since the Seminoles spoiled his season opener last year by punching the Crimson Tide in the mouth and beating them 31-17. DeBoer and his boys owe it to themselves, the school and the alumni to return that punch to the mouth, and they should.
This Florida State team looks horrible! Despite Florida State getting a week off, it comes off a terrible loss to the SMU Mustangs, in which it was outgained by 261 yards against a team that turned the ball over four times. SMU looked like the far better team, while opening the season looking like a sloppy joe.
If Alabama is unable to destroy this horrific Seminoles team, that low burner might start to blaze. The Alabama faithful already hate this guy, why not prove them wrong!
