Saturday sees Mississippi State welcoming Georgia to town for a conference showdown.

Although Mississippi State has largely caught up to SEC standards, its run defense remains a concern against Chauncy Bowens and the Bulldogs.

Georgia vs Mississippi State prediction

Georgia vs Mississippi State best bet: Chauncey Bowens Over 43.5 rushing yards  (-114)

Georgia running back Chauncey Bowens has been excellent over his last four outings, clearing this number with relative ease in three of them.

Bowens' production and volume are trending up, and now he draws a Mississippi State defense that has recently been a sieve against the run. A likely game script with Georgia leading throughout should create even more rushing volume.

The freshman's recent play suggests an upward trend, the matchup favors him, and the game state should cooperate. This is a strong play at anything below 50.5 rushing yards.

With that in mind, it’s my second two-unit play of the college football season.

Georgia vs Mississippi State same-game parlay

After averaging 7.9 yards per attempt last week, I expect more action for Bowens inside the red zone.

I also project a double-digit spread for this one, with a clear edge in favor of Georgia.

Georgia vs Mississippi State SGP

  • Bowens Over 43.5 rushing yards
  • Bowens anytime touchdown
  • Georgia -9.5

Our deep-ball SGP: Piece of Blake

I suspect Georgia will take an early lead, shorten possessions, and dominate Mississippi State with a very effective run game. My fair number for the total is 56.5, so it’s my first leg here.

Meanwhile, expect Blake Shapen to eclipse his passing total. Mississippi State will likely be chasing points, which favors more passing, and Georgia’s secondary has been suspect at times this season.

  • Bowens Over 43.5 rushing yards
  • Bowens anytime touchdown
  • Georgia -9.5
  • Under 57.5
  • Blake Shapen Over 225.5 passing yards
