Wizards vs Lakers best bet: LeBron James Over 16.5 rebounds + assists (-110)
Luka Doncic is suspended one game for racking up 16 technical fouls, leaving the Los Angeles Lakers without their MVP candidate when they host the Washington Wizards.
Doncic is the primary ball handler, utilizing his gravity to make everyone around him better. Whenever Doncic does sit out, LeBron James steps up, and we see a spike in his touches.
But rather than just picking up the scoring slack, James lifts the entire Lakers rotation with his playmaking. His potential assists and rebounding chance metrics surge, and the 41-year-old finds the "Fountain of Youth" for 48 minutes.
In the last four games without Luka in the lineup, James has handed out 12, 10, 10, and eight assists. His projections range from 8.0 to 9.0 dimes against a Washington defense watching opponents record an assist on 65.2% of their successful field goals (27th).
Passing prowess isn’t the only area James sees juiced whenever L.A. is Luka-less. In the last four games without Doncic, the veteran forward has cleaned the glass for rebounding totals of 10, nine, seven, and six.
Today’s models have James hauling in between seven and eight boards vs. the worst rebounding team in the NBA (30th in rebound rate). The Wizards give up a league-high 57 total rebounds per outing to foes and enter tonight with a patchwork lineup.
James is already averaging 13.5 combined rebounds + assists this month with Doncic in action, and should his projections pan out, he’ll once again tally 17+ in those combined stats to fill the Luka void.

Los Angeles can’t take it easy down the home stretch.
The Lakers are clinging to the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference with Denver, Minnesota, and Houston breathing down their necks. With LeBron James stepping up in Luka Doncic’s absence, L.A. still has more than enough to put the Wizards away.
