The Wizards' stout defense will be a difference-maker for the road underdogs tonight.

The Orlando Magic are a 2.5-point favorite at the Kia Center tonight against the Washington Wizards, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET.

My Wizards vs Magic predictions are liking Washington with the points against an Orlando team that's been struggling on its home floor.

It's all part of my NBA picks for Monday, Nov. 2.

 TOP PICK
Wizards vs Magic prediction: Wizards +2.5

Play up to 55%.

I'm backing the Washington Wizards as road underdogs tonight. The Orlando Magic are 0-3 at the Kia Center so far, and Washington allows seven fewer points than Orlando per 100 possessions.

Additionally, the visitors sit 12th in defensive rating, and the injury situation makes them worth a look against the spread. Trae Young and Anthony Davis are both healthy, while the Magic are without two of their top players in Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs.

Orlando is also playing on the second night of a back-to-back set, while Washington comes in with fresher legs after last playing on Friday. Given the Wizards' defensive stability against an inconsistent Magic attack, I'll happily take Washington +2.5.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Wizards rank eighth in points in the paint per game, while the Magic are 22nd in opponent's points allowed in the paint. That's a weakness Anthony Davis and Co. can exploit tonight.

Wizards vs Magic combo

I'm leaning toward Under 224.5, with neither offense showing much consistency. Orlando has scored fewer than 100 points in three of its last five games, while Washington is shooting just 29.3% from deep. Both teams are averaging fewer than 111 points per game, making a high-scoring affair difficult to envision tonight.

Davis should be able to feast on the boards as well. The big man is coming off a 13-rebound performance against the Hornets, and the Magic struggle to compete on the glass. They rank 22nd in rebounds allowed, and Orlando is considered an easier matchup for opposing power forwards, giving up 12.7 rebounds per night to the position.

Wizards vs Magic combo

  • Wizards +2.5
  • Under 224.5
  • Anthony Davis Over 11.5 rebounds

Wizards vs Magic player props

Wizards player prop: Trae Young Over 19.5 points

Play up to 55%.

Young is enjoying a solid campaign so far for the Wizards. He's averaging 20.7 PPG, and the guard has posted the second-highest usage rate on the team behind only AD. Young has also cashed the Over on his points total in all but one appearance so far, most recently dropping 21 against the Hornets.

The Magic are 25th in defensive rating, and they're allowing 21.5 PPG to opposing point guards. Opponents are also shooting 36.4% from deep against them, and that matters because Young is a high-volume shooter.

Add in the absences of Banchero and Suggs, and this matchup is a clear opportunity for Young to ball out.

Magic player prop: Desmond Bane Over 2.5 threes

Play up to 63%.

Desmond Bane has been one of the best shooters in the Association for a few years now, and he's living up to that billing right now. The TCU product is averaging 3.5 makes on 9.5 attempts per contest for a 36.8% clip from 3-point land.

Bane has been on fire from beyond the arc lately, going 11-for-21 from downtown across his last two appearances. The guard has cashed the Over in three of his previous four games, and the Wizards are allowing 3.6 triples per night to opposing shooting guards.

With a heavier workload due to key absences, I like Bane to sink 2+ treys tonight.
