Spread analysis

The Bucks were flat-out embarrassed by the Nuggets last game, as they lost by 36 points in their own building. Fortunately for Milwaukee, this team has responded well to brutal losses in the past, as the group is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games when coming off a loss by at least 10 points. Now, the Bucks have a get-right opportunity against a Wizards team that is missing Beal.

Washington isn’t as dependent on Beal as it has been in the past, but he’s still an All-Star and the Wizards are facing the defending champions in this one. That’s not going to make things any easier on a team that was already struggling. Washington is 7-18-1 ATS in its last 26 road games and 3-10 ATS in its last 13 road games against teams with winning home records.

Look for the Wizards to lean heavily on Spencer Dinwiddie with Beal out and they’ll also be hoping for Kyle Kuzma to really step it up as well. Milwaukee does, however, have Jrue Holiday to throw on Dinwiddie, and Kuzma could see a lot of Giannis Antetokounmpo. With that in mind, it’s hard to envision the Wizards finding much success on offense — at least from an efficiency standpoint.

Offensively, the Bucks will look to run up the score on a Wizards defense that is 21st in the league in defensive rating this season and just 27th over the last five games, so it’s not like things are getting any better.

Prediction: Bucks -11.5 (-110)

Over/Under analysis

After scoring 123 points against a New York Knicks team that is solid defensively, the Bucks only had 100 points in a blowout loss to the Nuggets. Look for Milwaukee to really get back on track, as the team should be playing angry against a Washington team that struggles to get stops on a nightly basis.

Before these teams combined to score only 195 points when they met on November 7, the Over had hit in each of the last eight meetings between these teams. A lot of those games were absurdly high scoring, with the teams combining to score over 250 combined points regularly. It wouldn’t be all that surprising if this game were to get up into the 230s, at least.

Over the last three seasons, the Over is 16-3 when Washington is an underdog of 10 or more points. The average total points scored in those games is 246.2 points per game. Back it again tonight.

Prediction: Over 224.5 (-110)

Best bet

Dinwiddie’s season has been extremely disappointing considering the contract he signed in the offseason, but a lot of that has to do with him having a backcourt partner with a high usage rate. However, with Beal out for this game, the Wizards are going to be relying on Dinwiddie to do a ton in order for the team to stay remotely competitive.

Dinwiddie might not be very efficient in scoring against a Bucks team that will likely put Holiday on him, but he should see increased scoring opportunities tonight.

Realistically, Washington is going to get some production from somebody while Beal is out, and Dinwiddie, who already averages 23.4 PRA, is the most likely option. This total is just too low not to take.

Pick: Spencer Dinwiddie Over 28.5 points + rebounds + assists (-110)
