White Sox vs Guardians prediction: Guardians moneyline
For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.
The moneyline is on the brink of being too expensive, but I’d stick with it in the high 50s. Any higher, and it’s probably better to give up the runs and take the Cleveland Guardians on the run line.
After beating Houston and winning the first two against Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox looked young and enthusiastic, with a unique approach to managing their pitching staff. Two losses later, and they look inexperienced with an exhausted mess in the bullpen.
Chicago’s lack of experience dealing with playoff pressure cost it both of its ABS challenges in quick succession in Game 3, and the pressure will be ratcheted up in Game 5.
Cleveland will also be seeing starter Sean Burke for the third time this month, and familiarity with Chicago’s pitchers cost the South Siders in Chicago. After having a 1.04 ERA four games into the postseason, White Sox relievers were over 9.00 in the last two games, with four of the five pitchers who came on in relief in Game 4 giving up runs.

White Sox vs Guardians combo
Cleveland has the more favorable side of the pitching matchup with Gavin Williams on the mound, and he struck out 11 in five innings in his Game 2 start against the Sox.
However, this is also his third time facing Chicago in the series, after he threw 18 pitches in relief on Thursday. It’s also his fourth time seeing them in the last month. The next pitch he throws will be the 230th of his that Chicago has seen since Sept. 14.
In other words, there should be plenty of offense from the jump in a series that has gone Over in each of the last three games. Chicago has gone Over in five of its last six, while Cleveland has done so in five of its last seven.

White Sox vs Guardians player prop: Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 total bases
One reason the White Sox have struggled the last two games is that they let Cleveland’s most intimidating hitter get hot.
Jose Ramirez had four hits in nine times up in Games 3 and 4 with three extra-base hits, five RBI, and no strikeouts.
Ramirez also homered 35% more often when facing a starting pitcher for the third time this season, and his OPS was more than 50 points higher.
White Sox vs Guardians home run prediction: Jo Adell
He isn’t a classic slugger, but Cleveland doesn’t have many of those this season.
Jo Adell has four hits in his last 11 at-bats in this series with two extra base hits and six RBI. He also homered every 17.4 plate appearances when facing a starter for the third time, compared to every 25.5 his first time up, one of the biggest familiarity advantages on the team.
Against relievers, Adell’s OPS went from .595 the first time facing a pitcher to 1.257 the next time up. He’s also hit .286 against Burke in his career.
Quinn Allen also makes the case for a Jo Adell dinger in his White Sox vs. Guardians home run picks for Game 5.
