Harrison Bader wasn’t the biggest name moved at the trade deadline, but he’s having quite the impact for the Philadelphia Phillies.
My Royals vs. Phillies predictions expect the outfielder to stay hot on Saturday night.
Read on for my MLB picks for September 13.
Royals vs Phillies prediction
Royals vs Phillies best bet: Harrison Bader Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-130)
Harrison Bader has bounced around the league in recent years, but it looks like he may have found a home in Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Phillies outfielder is batting .342 with a .945 OPS in 36 games (120 at-bats) since being acquired at the trade deadline.
Bader has been especially hot as of late. He’s batting .422 (19-for-45) in September to bring his overall batting average up from .266 to .284. He’s been fantastic on this homestand as well with multiple hits in each contest (12-for-24).
The Phillies have been bit by the injury bug recently with both Alec Bohm and Trea Turner hitting the shelf. Turner’s absence has allowed Bader to move up to the leadoff spot in recent games, and he’s thriving there with Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper behind him.
Bader has 2+ hits + runs + RBI in eight straight games and nine of his last 10 overall. He should have no problem keeping that up against Kansas City Royals righthander Ryan Bergert, who allowed eight runs on 11 hits in just 3 1/3 innings in his last outing.
Royals vs Phillies same-game parlay (SGP)
I have no problem switching to Bader’s total bases for the same-game parlay given his recent hot streak.
Speaking of being hot, the Phillies have won five straight games and eight of their last nine, going Over the total in each of the last four contests. All signs point to the Over hitting again with two lackluster starters on the mound in Bergert and Taijuan Walker.
