Prop bet #1: Gunning for more
Baltimore welcomes Tampa Bay to Oriole Park at Camden Yards for the opener of a four-game set tonight with crucial playoff implications on the line as the Orioles sit just two games ahead of the Rays for the top spot in the AL East. Fortunately for the Orioles, Gunnar Henderson has been on a tear this month, batting .316 with his 11 hits in September, ranking tied for seventh most in the majors.
Henderson is coming off a strong series against the Cardinals where he recorded six hits, three extra-base hits, and 12 total bases in three games, giving the third baseman six multi-hit outings in his past 12 contests.
He’s also enjoyed significantly more success against right-handed pitching compared to lefties as he’s batting .275 vs. righties compared to just .219 vs. southpaws this season. The Rays will be sending right-hander Aaron Civale to the mound tonight — another reason why I like Henderson to cash the Over on 1.5 hits in this one.
Prop bet #2: Can't stop Corey
The Texas Rangers roll into Rogers Centre for the finale of a four-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays tonight with a chance to complete the sweep and increase their lead over Toronto in the AL Wild Card race.
Corey Seager has been a big part of Texas’ success against Toronto so far in the series with the shortstop recording five runs, six hits, and two RBI through the first three meetings. Seager’s success against the Jays has been a common theme all season as he’s batting an incredible .500 in 26 at-bats vs. Toronto to go along with seven runs and six RBI in those contests.
Seager is usually all over the box score for the Rangers with at least 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI in four straight outings and 14 of his last 22 contests. Chances are we see him cash the Over on that prop again tonight.
Prop bet #3: Kodai goes deep
The New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks are set to provide us with a potential pitcher’s duel as Kodai Senga and Merrill Kelly go head to head at Citi Field this afternoon. Both pitchers have been excellent this season but New York’s starter has really caught my eye with his performance over the past few weeks.
Senga has held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in four straight outings and five of his last six starts while pitching through the sixth inning in each of those ballgames. Taking it back even further, Senga has allowed more than two earned runs in just two of his last 13 outings so it’s unlikely that the Diamondbacks force him out of the game early.
Arizona’s offense hasn’t been much to write home about either, with the D-backs averaging a lowly 2.00 runs per game over their last six outings. Put all those factors together and it looks like we have a recipe for Senga to cruise through the sixth inning once again.
Kodai Senga prop: Over 17.5 outs recorded (-150)
