The Washington Nationals will send DJ Herz to the hill, and this will be his first appearance in the Majors since 2024 due to injuries. I don't expect his leash to be very long here, and the Nats' bullpen has had its issues lately as well, posting a 4.70 FIP over the last week with command problems.
The Detroit Tigers' offense is swinging it well, posting a 112 wRC+ over its previous seven games. They will counter with River Ryan, who came over in the Tarik Skubal trade and is set to make his first MLB appearance since '24 as well.
Ryan went 3-1 with a 4.39 ERA in Triple-A, while the Nats' lineup is in poor form, collecting an 83 wRC+ over the last week.
I'll take Detroit behind its rookie.

Detroit's bullpen gives the Under a strong foundation here. The Tigers' relief corps owns a 2.88 xERA over its last 32 innings while allowing just 0.84 HR/9, and the command has been impressive during that stretch.
Washington's bullpen hasn't been nearly as dominant, but it has still done a decent job keeping the ball in the yard lately.
That matters in a matchup where both teams could turn to their relievers relatively early. With Detroit's bullpen pitching at a high level and neither relief corps giving up much home run damage, Under 8.5 is the better look.
Nationals vs Tigers home run prediction: Daylen Lile (12%)
Play up to 16%.
Daylen Lile has been showcasing real power lately. The youngster has two long balls in his last five games while posting a .389 ISO during that span. Lile has also put 50% of his contact in the air, while his 12.5% barrel rate recently stands out.
Ryan did a very good job limiting home runs in the minors, but the Majors are a different challenge, and Lile is swinging the bat with serious confidence right now.
He's worth a look at this price.
