My Diamondbacks vs Tigers best bet: Ryne Nelson Under 2.5 earned runs (-118 at BetMGM)
The Arizona Diamondbacks aren’t having the best season and could still be sellers by Thursday’s trade deadline, but one player who has performed well is Ryne Nelson.
No matter the role, he’s thrived. The right-hander has made 22 appearances and 12 starts, compiling a 3.29 ERA and 6-2 record. He’s holding opponents to a mere .195 average as well.
Nelson has a 2.35 ERA in July, cashing the Under in earned runs allowed in three of his last four outings. He even threw six scoreless last time out against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In fact, he’s only surrendered Over 2.5 earned runs once since the beginning of June.
While the Detroit Tigers lineup is hitting .353 off Nelson, it’s a small sample size of 34 at-bats. Overall, Detroit’s offense has been struggling lately as well, except for scoring 12 runs on Tuesday.
I do believe Nelson will put his best foot forward again and keep the Tigers at bay in this afternoon's matchup.

Corbin Carroll just went 2-for-4 with a triple in Tuesday’s loss, but he’s not swinging it particularly well lately. The outfielder is batting just .220 in July, and prior to Tuesday, he cashed the Under in total bases in five of his previous seven games.
Kerry Carpenter just returned from injury with a bang. He was 3-for-5 on Tuesday, his second game back after a month sidelined. I know it’s not a lot to base anything on, but it’s also important to note that Carpenter is 3-for-6 lifetime against Nelson.
