The St. Louis Cardinals took the series opener against the Chicago Cubs, and the division rivals will hit Busch Stadium for Game 2 on Tuesday, June 24.
My top Cubs vs. Cardinals predictions and MLB picks anticipate that the Chicago bats will lead the way to victory.

My Cubs vs Cardinals best bet: Cubs moneyline (-109 at Pinnacle)
⚾ Pick Analysis
We’re landing a fair number on the Chicago Cubs because the St. Louis Cardinals are being overpriced thanks to a 7-2 stretch, and three of the seven wins came against the lowly Chicago White Sox.
The Cubs are also running along a bit of a cold stretch with a 10-10 record and the lowest BABIP in the majors in June. There is too much talent stepping to the plate in Chicago's lineup to continue having such poor luck at the dish. Plus, the Cubbies still sport a 19th-ranked wOBA and fifth-ranked ISO during the 20-game stretch.
I am also skeptical of Cards rookie Michael McGreevy pitching deep and holding the Cubs in check. He pitches to contact, and the 24-year-old righty surrendered four runs on eight hits to the Los Angeles Dodgers across six frames on June 8.
Of course, the Cubs are also fourth in wOBA and fifth in ISO against righties, and they have a splash of statistical correction coming to their highlighted basement-dwelling BABIP for the month.
The final piece of the puzzle is Chicago righty Jameson Taillon bouncing back from a tough outing against the Milwaukee Brewers last time out. He surrendered five runs on eight hits to snap a five-game winning streak. Taillon has been the definition of serviceable the past two years with a 3.46 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 4.12 xFIP.
Look for Taillon to limit the Cards enough for the Chicago bats to do the heavy lifting tonight.
Cubs vs Cardinals same-game parlay (SGP)
🚀 SGP Analysis
With McGreevy allowing an 88.4% contact rate on pitches in the strike zone, I’m eyeing a pair of Chicago left-handed hitters to fill up the box score.
Michael Busch paces the Cubbies in wOBA against righties while ranking second in both ISO and OPS. Pete Crow-Armstrong ranks second in wOBA while edging out Busch to lead the way in both ISO and OPS.
I also upped this same-game parlay to the Cubs -1.5 run line to boost the odds.
