Evan Bouchard has been an assist machine in recent weeks, recording 19 over his last 20 games played.

Favored against a banged-up team missing several key pieces, my Golden Knights vs. Oilers predictions expect Bouchard to build on those outputs.

Let’s dive into my NHL picks for Sunday, December 21.

Golden Knights vs Oilers prediction

Golden Knights vs Oilers best bet: Evan Bouchard Over 0.5 assists (-140)

Evan Bouchard started the season with six consecutive pointless performances, but has since tallied 33 over 30 games since — with 27 of them coming by way of assist.

He plays a ton at 5-on-5 and quarterbacks the top power play, which has looked as lethal as any since getting Zach Hyman back.

The Edmonton Oilers have generated shots and goals more efficiently on the man advantage than any other team over the past 10 games. Bouchard has played a big part in that.

Although the Vegas Golden Knights are not a mouthwatering target by any means, they’re more vulnerable now than usual.

Vegas is missing a pair of stars in Jack Eichel and Shea Theodore due to injury. Not to mention a very good middle-six forward in William Karlsson and a starting goaltender in Adin Hill.

The Oilers should have an easier time tilting the ice and getting on the attack, which will lead to more offensive zone touches for Bouchard.

Edmonton's star defenseman also has a good track record against the Golden Knights, recording seven assists over the last six head-to-head matchups.

Golden Knights vs Oilers same-game parlay

Leon Draisaitl has 69 goals over his last 107 games and has only gone more than three in a row without finding the net two times.

It just so happens he’s mired in a six-game slump, by far his longest over the past 1.5 seasons, despite leading the Oilers in chances.  At home against an injury-plagued Golden Knights team, this is a spot you’d expect Draisaitl to get back on track.

With the Golden Knights missing key players at all three positions and the Oilers able to dictate matchups at home, Edmonton should be able to get back on track.
