Houston Astros starter Lance McCullers primarily attacks right-handed bats with sinkers, sliders, and changeups, throwing those three pitches nearly 90% of the time.
Isolating those three pitch types thrown by right-handed pitchers, Arozarena is hitting .306 with a 52.17% hard hit rate over the last month. His ISO sits just below .200 in that span.
He is getting on base consistently and generating plenty of power to boot.
Arozarena faced McCullers back in May and had three at-bats, two of which resulted in the ball leaving his bat with an exit velocity of 103 mph or more. That aligns with what we’ve seen recently — Arozarena feasting on pitchers using what’s in McCullers’ arsenal.
