As the NFL season continues to take shape, our staff's Week 5 parlay and teaser picks are showing divergent strategies. Some are opting for the steady gains of weekly teasers, while others - mostly those who need to make up ground - are lobbing bombs at high-return parlays.

The Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints are popular Week 5 picks as NFL bettors try to rally from the early-season uncertainty. Check out this week's parlays and teasers from our NFL brain trust.

In case you've missed the first few weeks, here's how it works:

Each week, the members of the Covers editorial staff will provide their best parlay and NFL teaser bets of the week. In previous years, these picks were restricted to just totals, spreads and moneylines but this year everything is in play. Player props, derivatives: if you can find a place to bet it, it's fair game.

Let's get into it with our Week 4 picks:

Teaser Picks Week 5

Andrew Caley, Senior Editor (@Covers_Caley) ***Defending Champion***

The Steelers D will overwhelm the Eagles. The Browns getting a TD at home is nice in a game that should be close. And the Seahawks have made their backers sweat but are 4-0 ATS and should beat a sloppy Vikings team at home.

PICK: 6-point teaser (Pittsburgh -1, Cleveland +7, Seattle -1) +160
Season: +3.11 units

Jason Logan, Senior Industry Analyst (@CoversJLo)

Chopping some of these big faves down on teams that should at least win outright and blasting through as many key numbers as I can with a 6-point teaser. Taking Pittsburgh -7 down to -1, L.A. Rams -7 down to -1, and New Orleans -7.5 down to -1.5.

PICK: 6-point teaser (Pittsburgh -1, L.A. Rams -1, New Orleans -1.5) +160
Season: -1.4 units

Rob Hansen, Content Coordinator (@Mookie_45)

There once was a coach who was a “Dead Man Walking.”
On Dan Quinn’s door the Grim Reaper was knocking.
The Falcons had yet to earn a win,
And all the attention was on Quinn.
Would a win over the Panthers stop people from talking?

PICK: 6-point teaser (Atlanta +4.5, Seattle -1, Philadelphia +13) +160
Season: +3.6 units

Rohit Ponnaiya, Digital Content Producer (@Covers_Ro)

There's only one Super Bowl contender in Pennsylvania, and it's not the Eagles who were lucky to eke out their first win of the year last week against Nick Mullens. The Chiefs have beaten the Raiders by an average score of 34-7 in the last three meetings, so covering five points should be a cinch. And yes the Cowboys have looked terrible, but the Giants are even worse.

PICK: 6-point teaser (Kansas City -5, Pittsburgh -1, Dallas -2) +160
Season: +3.8 units

Jameson Mossman, Social Media Coordinator (@Covers_JaMo)

Okay…Need a win this week, and I’m counting on teams doing what they’re supposed to do (looking at you Arizona).
Pittsburgh is rested, Arizona will be better this week (they are playing the Jets), Dak is lighting up the scoreboard and the Dallas D gets the 2nd worst offense in the league, and the Chiefs and Raiders will put up points. Let’s Go!

PICK: 6-point teaser (Pittsburgh -1, Arizona -1, Dallas -3.5, Oakland-Kansas City Over 49) +253
Season: -1.4 units

Josh Inglis, NFL Writer (@inglis_josh4)

If you are reading this, then you have come to the wrong place. Through four weeks, we here at team Jinglis have put out four straight losers and find ourselves on the bottom looking up. But like the Jets and Joe Flacco, things can't get any worse. One more losing week and we may lose HC and GM duties to a former author. Week 5 does offer some great teaser action and that's where we are looking to dig ourselves out of this hole.

PICK: three team, six-point teaser (Arizona -1, Houston +1, Minnesota +13) +160
Season: -4.0 units

Parlay Picks Week 2

Brandon DuBreuil, Content Manager (@CoversBD)

Tough one last week as the first three came in before San Francisco couldn't come through on the moneyline. This week, we turn to some heavy faves on the moneyline while adding K.C. on an alt. spread of -2.5 for good measure.

PICK: Arizona ML, Pittsburgh ML, Seattle ML, New Orleans ML, Kansas City -2.5 (+245)
Season: +1.08 units

AJ Salah, Publishing Editor (@Salas42_)

We really should be limping back to some safer teaser picks after last week's parlay fared about as poorly as Jared Leto's face in that "Fight Club" scene where Ed Norton mashes him into the concrete floor. But where's the fun in that?

Taking Browns to cover vs. the Colts' probably-overrated D, the Seahawks and Vikings to blow a fuse in the scoreboard, and a watered-down spread for the Texans to take out their post-Bill O'Brien frustrations on the Jaguars

PICK: Cleveland +1.5, Seattle-Minnesota Over 56.5, Houston -4 (+549)
Season: +1.25 units

Patrick Everson, Senior Writer (@Covers_Vegas)

Standard three-team parlay, per usual. I’m taking the Colts -1.5, even though I was quite wrong going against the Browns last week. Seahawks -7 at home seems reasonable enough against the Vikings. And the Rams now down to -7 against the Washington Football Team. Rams might not be a smart play, but it’s a better number than early in the week. “Here we go Jim!” “Toneeeeeee!”

PICK: Indianapolis -1.5, Seattle -7, L.A. Rams -7 (+647)
Season: -0.36 units

Jared Hochman, Publishing Editor (@JLHoch)

Another winless week, and sitting in the basement I feel like the New York Jets...but I can’t tell if I’m Adam Gase, Sam Darnold, or this fan that’s hit their breaking point.  Anyways, let’s swing for the fences this week with a four-ticket prop and derivative parlay. Time to take flight!

PICK: Minnesota-Seattle 1Q Over 11.5, L.A. Rams 1Q -2.5, Robby Anderson Over 73.5 receiving yards, Devonta Freeman Over 47.5 rushing yards (+1,127)
Season: -4.0 units

Standings

1st: Rohit Ponnaiya: +3.8 units
2nd: Rob Hansen: +3.6 units
3rd: Andrew Caley: +3.11 units
4th: AJ Salah: +1.25 units
5th: Brandon DuBreuil: +1.08 units
6th: Patrick Everson -0.36 units
T-7th: Jameson Mossman: -1.4 units
T-7th: Jason Logan: -1.4 units
9th: Josh Inglis: -4.0 units
10th: Jared Hochman: -4.0 units

Standings are somewhat irrelevant — if you're not first...you're last.
