The 35-year old is off to a terrific start this season with seven goals and 18 points through the Toronto Maple Leafs’ first 14 games of the season. He’s also been shooting at a consistently high rate, averaging 3.6 shots per game, going over the posted total of 2.5 shots in seven of his last eight games. 

Additionally, John Tavares and his new linemates were given mainly offensive zone duties in their last game against Utah, starting 66% of their shifts in the O-zone. This allowed them to generate offense at a 92% xGF rate, while outshooting the Mammoth 5-0 in just 8:43 of 5-on-5.

Auston Matthews has found his scoring touch with a goal in three straight games and 4+ shots on net in four of his last five outings. The Bruins are 24th in goals against per game and I think the Leafs captain extends his scoring streak tonight.

These two teams are very familiar with each other and both struggle to generate much by way of chances. I like the Under here at 6.5.
