The Ottawa Senators are a team that likes the underdog role. They’re 13-17 as underdogs this season and have already taken down the Florida Panthers once, even if that was way back in October.
Despite the Senators being on the road here, they actually have a bit of a travel advantage as they’ve been down in the state of Florida for a few days now with the two games in Tampa Bay.
Meanwhile, the Panthers were in D.C. Tuesday night and St. Louis on Thursday night. They have one final home game here before the break.
The Cats do deserve to be favorites thanks to their recent play and 16-9-2 home record, but the Sens have played up to their competition this season.
Ottawa is 12-9 against teams that have won more than 55% of their games this year, while Florida is 5-5 against middling teams (45%- 55% win rate). This line of +159 seems a bit high.
Linus Ullmark is confirmed to start tonight in his second game back from injury. He allowed three goals on 37 shots in Tampa Bay on Tuesday night with plenty of time to get ready for this matchup. Ullmark is 12-8-2 with a .915 SV% and 2.41 GAA this season.

The Ottawa Senators opened as slightly larger underdogs, but they’ve settled in the market between +150 and +160 at most books. The confirmation of Ullmark starting likely moved the needle a bit in their favor.
The total is set at 5.5, with the Over slightly favored at -108. The Under 5.5 is -104, which is about where I expect it to settle by puck drop.
This really could go either way in terms of high-scoring or low-scoring, but if the Sens win, it’s likely going to be on the back of Ullmark.
