The Buffalo Sabres are road favorites over the San Jose Sharks ahead of their 10:30 p.m. ET puck drop at SAP Center on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
My favorite Sabres vs. Sharks predictions and NHL picks focus on Buffalo star Rasmus Dahlin and San Jose center Macklin Celebrini tonight.
Sabres vs Sharks prediction: Sharks moneyline
This is an upset spot for the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center, and I’m comfortable recommending the San Jose moneyline up to 46%.
Sharks goalie Yaroslav Askarov has posted a monster .946 save percentage and 6.09 goals saved above expected over his last two starts. The Buffalo Sabres have dropped six of eight games while allowing 3.6 goals per game and ranking 21st in xGF% at 5-on-5.
Askarov is a star in the making, and after posting an underwhelming .883 SV% in his first full NHL season, I expect his recent heater to mark the beginning of a breakout campaign.

TOP PICK
Sabres vs Sharks player prop: Rasmus Dahlin 3+ shots on goal
This shot-on-goal prop is in play to 55% because Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin’s 7.98 shots per 60 minutes are the second-highest mark among defensemen, and the Sharks allow the second-most SOG per game to blueliners.
Dahlin has averaged 24:47 of ice time per game, including 3:30 quarterbacking the No. 1 power-play, and he sports a solid 54.4 Corsi For percentage and 56.1% shot share at 5-on-5.
Sabres vs Sharks combo
The Sharks are rolling out a top line featuring Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, and Ivar Stenberg, and the trio will also skate on the No. 1 power-play unit. Stenberg has nine points through 12 games, and, as noted, the Sabres have been a mess defensively.
Turning to Buffalo defenseman Olen Zellweger, he’s collected 23 shots and 43 attempts over his last six games while reaching this benchmark in each. San Jose has also allowed the sixth-most shots on goal per game.
Sabres vs Sharks combo
- Sharks moneyline
- Ivar Stenberg 1+ points
- Olen Zellweger 2+ shots
Sabres vs Sharks goal scorer: Macklin Celebrini
The superstar has gone without a goal in consecutive games despite generating two individual high-danger scoring chances. Celebrini’s underlying numbers are promising, so I recommend him to score at up to 45%.
His 12.5% shooting percentage is below last season’s 15.7% mark, while his individual expected-goals rate of 1.13 per 60 minutes is right in line with his 1.09 ixG/60 last season.
As noted, the Sabres have been giving up goals in bunches.
