It’s a packed, 11-game slate on the ice Tuesday, Oct. 27, and I have NHL moneyline picks for every game on the docket.
My three favorite NHL picks for tonight are the Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, and Anaheim Ducks.

Expert NHL moneyline picks: Oct. 27
Blue Jackets vs Flyers pick:
Blue Jackets
The Philadelphia Flyers are missing key forwards Travis Konecny (lower body) and Owen Tippett (upper body) and rank 29th in both Corsi For percentage and expected goals percentage at five-on-five.
With the Columbus Blue Jackets allowing two goals or fewer in three of their past four games, I'm siding with the visitors.
Bruins vs Hurricanes pick:
Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes have stormed to a 9-2-2 record despite playing nine of 13 games on the road, and their underlying 5-on-5 numbers are elite, per usual.
While it’s been a similar sterling start for the Boston Bruins (9-2-1), they also have the highest PDO in the NHL at 5-on-5 despite a middling 17th-ranked 49.2 CF%.
Kings vs Blackhawks pick:
Blackhawks
This is a back-to-back spot for the Los Angeles Kings, and No. 2 goalie Anton Forsberg sports an .894 save percentage.
The Chicago Blackhawks have an unsustainably low 4.9% team shooting percentage with 4.65 goals below expected during their active three-game losing skid, so this is an ideal spot for the Hawks to kick their scoring funk.
Canadiens vs Blues pick:
Canadiens
The St. Louis Blues are 3-1-1 at home, and the Montreal Canadiens arrive at the Enterprise Center without top-six forwards Nick Suzuki (upper body) and Ivan Demidov (lower body).
Still, the Blues rank 20th in xGF% at 5-on-5 during their active 4-3 run, while the Canadiens have gone 5-1-1 with a seventh-ranked xGF% during the same stretch.
Islanders vs Predators pick:
Predators
The New York Islanders are 1-3-1 on the highway while generating the fifth-fewest expected goals per 60 minutes, so I like the Nashville Predators tonight.
Nashville No. 1 Juuse Saros has a .908 save percentage with a respectable 3.84 goals saved above expected to start the year, and the Preds rank third in power-play percentage and fifth in penalty-kill percentage.
Devils vs Stars pick:
Devils
The New Jersey Devils are the best 5-on-5 team in the NHL with league-high ranks in CF% and xGF%, and I think they can make it four straight wins because the Dallas Stars have multiple key skaters sidelined.
New Jersey has scored 8.85 goals below expected at 5-on-5 this season, while Dallas No. 1 Jake Oettinger has statistical correction coming considering he has 9.51 GSAx across nine games.
Panthers vs Jets pick:
Panthers
This is a great spot to fade the Winnipeg Jets. They’ve lost five straight despite an eighth-ranked PDO at 5-on-5.
Winnipeg has been held to nine goals during the skid, and the Florida Panthers have surrendered the second-fewest expected goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 this season.
Wild vs Mammoth pick:
Wild
I trust Minnesota Wild goalie Jesper Wallstedt. He’s posted an elite .929 SV% with 9.51 GSAx, so while the Utah Mammoth are statistical darlings at 5-on-5, they also rank 24th in team save percentage.
Add the Mammoth sitting 29th in PK%, and I’m backing the Wild tonight.
Senators vs Golden Knights pick:
Golden Knights
This is a great spot for the Vegas Golden Knights. They top the Ottawa Senators in both CF% and xGF% at 5-on-5, and Vegas is 5-2 on home ice.
The Sens have also allowed 10 goals across two games since No. 1 goalie Linus Ullmark (lower body) was hurt.
Canucks vs Ducks pick:
Ducks
The Vancouver Canucks have surrendered a league-high 45 goals during their 10-game losing streak with a 32nd-ranked xGF% at 5-on-5.
This is also just the fifth home game of the season for the Anaheim Ducks, so I’m expecting them to build off their 5-4 road win over the Flyers last time out.
Sabres vs Sharks pick:
Sharks
San Jose Sharks goalie Yaroslav Askarov has a monster .946 SV% with 6.09 GSAx across his past two starts, and the Buffalo Sabres have dropped six of eight while allowing 3.6 goals per game and ranking 21st in xGF% at five-on-five.
I’m rolling with the Sharks upset at the SAP Center.
Today's NHL moneyline combo
The slumping Jets are prime targets to fade against the defensively dominant Panthers, and the Golden Knights have an analytical advantage over the Senators, who are struggling without Ullmark.
Anaheim handing Vancouver an 11th consecutive loss rounds out the moneyline combo.
