My Trail Blazers vs. Lakers prediction is that the visitors from Portland will continue their undefeated run, handing Los Angeles its first defeat of the campaign.
The Trail Blazers enter as slight 2.5-point underdogs for an 11 p.m. ET tipoff at Crypto.com Arena.
Let's dive into my analysis and NBA picks for Tuesday, Oct. 27.
TOP PICK
Trail Blazers vs Lakers prediction: Trail Blazers +2.5
It's the smallest of sample sizes, but the Portland Trail Blazers have managed to find a winning formula on both ends of the hardwood through two games, ranking second in offense (123.5 points per 100 possessions) and fourth in defense (100.5 points allowed per 100 possessions). That's why I'll be playing Portland up to 55% and +1.5.
The Los Angeles Lakers are scoring the most points per 100 possessions in the Association at 125.9. But they've also allowed mediocre competition in the Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz to each score at least 117 points and shoot no worse than 48% from the field.
That simply won't cut it against the Trail Blazers, who boast a league-best net rating of 23 points, which is 6.2 points better than any other team.
Los Angeles runs a Luka Doncic-heavy attack (41.9 usage rate). To counter that, Portland can throw Toumani Camara and Deni Avdija at the superstar playmaker and make someone else step up.

Trail Blazers vs Lakers combo
While I'm confident in Portland to cover at +2.5, which does provide some wiggle room, I'd still take the away side to win outright and boost the overall value of this parlay with greater returns.
The Trail Blazers and Lakers have registered an Under three straight times and four of the last five whenever the latter was favored on the spread. The total in the last three games was set no higher than 225 points, too.
Elsewhere, Doncic's scoring total is inflated coming off his 52-point outburst against Utah. He averaged 25.5 points through his first two appearances this season and only converted 38.5% of his shot attempts. That's more in line with what should be projected for him tonight against a more hard-edged defense.

Trail Blazers vs Lakers player props
Trail Blazers player prop: Damian Lillard Over 19.5 points
Play up to 60%.
"Dame Time" is whenever Damian Lillard competes under the bright lights of Hollywood, as the nine-time All-Star point guard has logged a history of consistently imposing his will when on the road versus the Lakers.
Lillard has averaged 30.5 points, 6.8 assists, and five boards while shooting 38.3% from behind the arc over his last 10 away meetings with Los Angeles. His most recent line came two years ago, mind you, but he still dropped 28 points then.
The 36-year-old has contributed no fewer than 19 points in each of his first two games this season, with his most recent 19-point display merely kept in check by a 7-of-18 conversion rate. One more made basket gets him the Over this total, which is why I'm loving this number for Tuesday.
Lakers player prop: Walker Kessler Under 9.5 rebounds
Play up to 65%.
Walker Kessler has been both a revelation and a clear beneficiary of playing with an elite distributor in Doncic. But on Tuesday, there's a 7-foot-2 giant in Donovan Clingan prepared to stifle his momentum.
Clingan is bringing in nine rebounds per contest for Portland, ranking 17th. Meanwhile, Kessler has fallen Under 9.5 boards through each of his first three games donning the purple and gold.
Kessler went from looking like Shaquille O'Neal-lite in his first two games to being humbled against his former team in Utah. Securing double-digit rebounds in a battle on the glass with Clingan won't come easy, nor will it come at all.
