My Nets vs Celtics predictions back Boston to cover -11.5 as the Celtics host a winless Brooklyn squad following Monday's 35-point demolition of the Bulls.
The Celtics drained 21 threes in that convincing victory, while the 0-3 Nets have struggled defensively to open the season. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at TD Garden on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Here's my full analysis and latest NBA picks for tonight's matchup.
Nets vs Celtics prediction: Celtics -11.5
Play up to 55%.
The Boston Celtics are fresh off a 134-99 demolition of the Bulls, draining 21 triples in a game where their offense caught fire. Payton Pritchard led the way with 28 points, while Jayson Tatum added 23.
Now, Boston faces a Brooklyn Nets squad with a net rating around -12 and the NBA's 23rd-ranked defense. The Nets have struggled immensely to get stops, most recently allowing 136 points to the Pacers.
This is obviously a large spread, but the Celtics are starting to find their rhythm offensively. The Nets are also committing more than 18 turnovers per game, which could translate into plenty of easy baskets for Boston.
With the Celtics' depth and perimeter shooting, I expect them to pull away comfortably.

Nets vs Celtics combo
I'm combining the Celtics spread with some efficient shooting from both teams here.
Michael Porter Jr. is shooting 36% from 3-point range, and he's cashed the Over in two of three games. He's averaging exactly 3.0 makes on 8.3 attempts per night, and the Celtics have been vulnerable to outside shooting, allowing 14.3 made threes per contest.
Pritchard caught fire against the Bulls, going 7-for-10 from long range. He's a high-volume shooter, and the guard is averaging 3.3 makes on 55.6% shooting from deep so far. The Nets are allowing 17.3 threes per game, among the most in the NBA, and opponents are shooting 40.3% from beyond the arc against them.
Nets vs Celtics combo
- Celtics -11.5
- Michael Porter Jr. Over 2.5 threes
- Payton Pritchard Over 2.5 threes
Nets vs Celtics player props
TOP PICK
Nets player prop: Julius Randle Over 5.5 assists
Play up to 50%.
Despite the Nets' struggles, Julius Randle has been key to this offense. He's averaging a team-best 6.3 assists per game and has cashed the Over in two of three appearances.
The big man handed out seven assists in his last game, and the Celtics are considered an easier matchup for playmaking power forwards. They're allowing 7.31 assists per game to the position.
With Randle having a clear role as the Nets' top facilitator and Boston's vulnerability against power forwards, he has a realistic chance of hitting six or more assists again.
Celtics player prop: Jayson Tatum Over 29.5 points
Play up to 45%.
Tatum scored just 23 points against the Bulls, but he played only 28 minutes in the blowout. The Duke product erupted for 36 against the Knicks last week, though, and his shot volume supports a big night against the struggling Nets.
Tatum is averaging 22 field-goal attempts per game, highlighting his willingness to take shots. The Nets are allowing 123.7 points per game, and Tatum's leading role for the Celtics means he'll be a focal point of the offense again. Brooklyn is also giving up nearly 27 points per contest to power forwards.
Of course, there's the risk of another huge blowout, which could limit Tatum's minutes again, but with his shot volume and such a favorable matchup, I'm banking on him doing enough damage to clear this line, even if the game gets out of hand.
