It's a battle between two Atlantic Division beasts this afternoon as the Boston Bruins welcome the Florida Panthers to TD Garden.

Both teams have been hot, but my Panthers vs. Bruins prediction leans toward Boston to extend its winning streak to four thanks to an airtight defense.

Read my NHL picks for Sunday, Nov. 8 below.

TOP PICK
Panthers vs Bruins prediction: Bruins moneyline

Play the Bruins up to 59%.

The Boston Bruins may not have the most talented team on paper, but they're proving that they've got one of the best systems in the NHL.

The B's rank fourth in goals against per game (2.35), first in goals against per 60 at 5-on-5 (1.59), and first in team save percentage (.914).

The Florida Panthers are holding their own so far this season, but key injuries are bound to slow them down eventually. The Cats are without captain Aleksander Barkov, Brad Marchand, Anton Lundell, and Sandis Vilmanis — four key members of their offense.

Boston doesn't give up much as it is, and I don't see a depleted Panthers squad putting many pucks past the Bruins.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Bruins are 5-1-1 when playing on 2+ days' rest, while Florida is 1-1-0 when skating in the second half of a back-to-back.

Panthers vs Bruins combo

The Bruins are a defensive juggernaut, but the Panthers have arguably been even stingier in terms of shots and chances against. Florida ranks third in shots against per game (24.6) and first in expected goals against per 60 at 5-on-5 (2.08).

I expect a grindy defensive game with not a ton of goals to go around for either side.

One player who could make an offensive breakthrough, however, is David Pastrnak. The Bruins forward has 61 shots this season — nearly double anyone else on Boston.

Panthers vs Bruins combo

  • Bruins moneyline
  • Under 6.5
  • David Pastrnak 4+ shots

Panthers vs Bruins player prop: David Pastrnak 4+ shots

Pastrnak has thrown 4+ shots on net in three straight contests, and with James Hagens ruled out with a back injury, the Bruins star will be relied upon even more heavily to carry the offense.

Pastrnak ranks eighth in the NHL in shot attempts (121), which translates to just over seven per game. The Panthers are second-last in the league in blocks (189), so Pasta should be able to get most of his shot attempts through to the net.

Panthers vs Bruins goal scorer: David Pastrnak

Pastrnak isn't just a high-volume shooter — he's also an elite goal scorer. Pasta has eight goals in 17 games, putting him on pace for his sixth career 40-goal season.

The B's superstar has scored six of his eight tallies this season at TD Garden, with four goals in his last four home games.

He'll be shooting against Jacob Markstrom, who has a subpar .885 SV% this season and has allowed 3+ goals in three straight starts.
