The Oilers boast the NHL's second-highest scoring offense, averaging 4.43 goals per game, while the Mammoth aren't far behind, ranking fourth in hockey with 3.88 goals per contest, and third in xGoals percentage (58.24). Let's see some goals.

It's a battle between two high-octane offenses tonight in Utah, so we're investing in the Over as part of our Oilers vs. Mammoth predictions.

The Utah Mammoth host the Edmonton Oilers as 56% favorites at Novig, but we're going to invest in some goals tonight and rock with the Over 6.5 (54%).

Tap into my NHL picks for Saturday, Oct. 17, and let's build that weekend bankroll.

 TOP PICK
Oilers vs Mammoth prediction: Over 6.5

The Edmonton Oilers boast the NHL's second-highest-scoring offense, averaging 4.43 goals per game, while the Utah Mammoth aren't far behind, ranking fourth in the league with 3.88 goals per game and third in xGoals percentage (58.24).

Edmonton has tightened up defensively over its last three games, but Tristan Jarry gets the nod tonight, bringing an ugly 3.37 goals-against average and an .827 save percentage into the matchup.

With those numbers between the pipes and Utah boasting the NHL's top-ranked power play, I expect a fast-paced game with plenty of scoring chances.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Just how good is the Mammoth's power play? The unit ranks first in goals for per 60 and has scored four more goals on the man advantage than anyone else in hockey (12).

Oilers vs Mammoth combo

We're looking at a ton of goals tonight, so naturally, I'm all over the superstars to record some points. Connor McDavid is almost a shoo-in for a point per night, he's up to 15 on the young season, with 12 assists over his last six games. Averaging 24 minutes of ice time per night, the volume is absolutely there for us.

Meanwhile, Dylan Guenther ranks fourth in the league in expected goals for on the man advantage, giving us plenty of confidence he'll record at least one point tonight on the power play.

Oilers vs Mammoth combo

  • Oilers/Mammoth Over 6.5
  • Connor McDavid 1+ assist
  • Dylan Guenther 1+ power-play point

Oilers vs Mammoth player prop: Dylan Guenther 1+ PPP

Yes, Guenther has been a force on the power play, ranking fourth in the NHL in expected goals for with the man advantage. It helps that the Oilers are abysmal on the penalty kill, clicking at just 68%, which is 28th in the NHL.

With that kind of offensive involvement and scoring opportunity against a team that can't clear the puck in their own zone, I love his chances of finding the scoresheet at least once tonight on the man advantage.

Oilers vs Mammoth goal scorer: Vasily Podkolzin

At 30%, I love this price on Vasily Podkolzin, who leads the Oilers in expected goals for at five-on-five. Podkolzin has scored at least one goal in four of six games this season while playing alongside McDavid on the top line and first power-play unit.

It's no secret he's benefited from the gravity McDavid draws whenever he's in the offensive zone, but Podkolzin has made the most of it and is coming into his own as an NHL sniper. Let's hit some twine tonight.
