MacKenzie Weegar is starting to find his rhythm offensively, and he's set to find the back of the net against a leaky Columbus defense.

The Columbus Blue Jackets host the Calgary Flames this afternoon at Nationwide Arena, and the NHL odds have the Flames as -115 favorites.

Calgary is looking to avoid a third straight loss, and my Flames vs. Blue Jackets predictions believe MacKenzie Weegar will do his part by finding the back of the net.

Read on for my NHL picks for Friday, November 29.

Flames vs Blue Jackets prediction

My Flames pick
MacKenzie Weegar anytime goalscorer (+450 at BET99)

My Flames analysis
While the Columbus Blue Jackets have fared well offensively, the same cannot be said about their play on the other side of the ice. Columbus ranks 29th in goals allowed per game and 19th in xGA/60.

A big factor in these numbers is poor play on special teams, considering the Jackets rank 23rd in penalty kill percentage. Another factor is below-average goaltending from Elvis Merzlikins, who possesses a .890 SV% through 13 games.

This trend is likely to serve as a problem against the Calgary Flames, a team that has found more success on the man advantage than they have at 5-on-5. Specifically, at +450 via BET99, I am looking for MacKenzie Weegar to find the back of the net.

He skates with the first power play unit, where 67% of his scoring production has occurred. While Weegar has only scored three times this season, he's begun to shoot the puck more frequently.

He’s averaging over three shots on goal over the past seven games, and one of those is certainly capable of getting past Merzlikins, especially when you consider the other variables of a poor blue line and penalty-killing unit. Additionally, Weegar has scored in five of his past nine games against Columbus.

Flames vs Blue Jackets same-game parlay (SGP)

Connor Zary Over 0.5 assists

Flames moneyline

Connor Zary is a facilitator, which is why he is fourth on the team in assists. The Flames' attack will be enough to get Columbus on the ropes, and their defense will hold up to secure two points.
