Goals will be at a premium tonight, with the low-scoring Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks hitting the ice at the United Center on Thursday, January 15.

My top NHL picks and Flames vs. Blackhawks predictions are calling for a low-scoring bout in the Windy City.

Flames vs Blackhawks prediction

Flames vs Blackhawks best bet: Under 5.5 (+105)

The Calgary Flames have an opportunity to flip the script after allowing 3.83 goals per game while going 1-5 since the calendar flipped to 2026. This is the final stop of a five-game road trip, and the Chicago Blackhawks aren’t a high-octane offense.

Chicago has scored 17 times through six 2026 games, and the Hawks have also rank below average in expected goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five during the six-game stretch.

For comparison, the Flames have been even worse offensively with just 11 goals and a rank of 22nd in xGF per 60 at 5-on-5.

Add Chicago playing to the Under in six of the past eight games to Calgary going Under the number in three of its past four, and there isn’t going to be a lot of offense at the United Center tonight.

Flames vs Blackhawks same-game parlay

The Blackhawks allow the most shots per game to opposing defensemen and Flames power-play quarterback Rasmus Andersson ranks in the 97th percentile of bluelines in shots on goal.

He’s also recorded two or more in six of his past seven games for 16 total shots on 32 attempts while logging a healthy 23:58 of ice time per night.

I’m rounding out this same-game parlay with the expectation Calgary winger Yegor Sharangovich cashes in on a splash of statistical correction tonight.

The go-to winger has failed to convert any of his eight attempts into shots the past two games, so after recording two or more shots in seven of the previous 10 games with a 58.3% conversion rate, I’m anticipating two or more from Sharangovich again tonight.

Flames vs Blackhawks SGP
