Vikings vs Packers Best bet: Jordan Love Over 10.5 rushing yards (-114)
We all know the song. Haddaway’s one-hit wonder had legs in the '90s, not only shaking asses upon its release in 1993 but getting a rebirth later in the decade thanks to SNL’s “A Night at the Roxbury”.
Whelp, I’m bringing it back for Week 12 and putting a Vikings-Packers twist on the lyrics:
“Jordan Love
Vikings don’t hurt him.
Don’t hurt him.
Run more”
The Minnesota Vikings are coming after Jordan Love this weekend. With the offense sputtering, the Vikings’ best chance of stealing a road win is Brian Flores’ blitz-happy defense.
Minnesota brings extra pass rushers more than any team in the NFL, which has helped Flores generate the highest pressure rate per dropback on opposing passers. The Vikes rank No. 2 in QB hurries and No. 3 in QB hits while collecting 26 sacks on the season.
Love has been one of the more steady-handed quarterbacks when facing blitz-heavy foes and has had success against Flores in the past, but things aren’t sitting well for the QB entering Week 12.
Love’s pass protection is showing cracks, allowing six sacks the past three games, and the Cheeseheads’ leader could be without his best blitz-busting targets in tight end Tucker Kraft (out) and dual-threat RB Josh Jacobs, who missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury.
On top of those injuries, this Green Bay Packers receiving corps has questionable designations on just about every active WR, which could leave Love with fewer passing options and prompt him to take off when the Vikings collapse the pocket.
I actually bet Love’s rushing yards prop against the Giants in Week 11, taking the Over 9.5 yards. He was quick to put up seven yards rushing while evading the G-Men’s pass rush, but left in the first half due to a shoulder injury, leaving backup Malik Willis to rush for 16 yards on his only carry.
Love did return and was about to break away for a big run in the second half, but barely got clipped on the toe and stumbled behind the line of scrimmage with nothing but open field in front of him. He finished with just seven yards on two carries.
However, Love has still rushed for at least a dozen yards in six of his 10 games, and most Week 12 projections sit north of his current rushing yards O/U. Those models range from 10.5 to 16 yards, with the majority beyond 14 gains on the ground.
