The Rams made the biggest move of the NFL offseason, acquiring Myles Garrett from the Browns. Here's how the blockbuster trade impacted Los Angeles' Super Bowl odds and where the Rams now sit among the NFL's championship favorites.

The Los Angeles Rams are looking to make the most of their championship window, and that means being aggressive when opportunities arise.

They've done exactly that by acquiring two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett in exchange for Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, and additional draft compensation.

Sportsbooks reacted accordingly. Rams Super Bowl odds have shortened from +750 to +550 following the blockbuster trade, further cementing Los Angeles as one of the top contenders to win Super Bowl 61.

Rams Super Bowl odds shorten after Garrett trade

The Los Angeles Rams weren't a team that needed saving. They were already viewed as a legitimate NFC contender.

Sean McVay has proven he can win with veteran stars, young talent, and just about everything in between. Matthew Stafford remains capable of making high-level throws when protected, and Los Angeles has quietly done an excellent job replenishing its roster despite years of trading away premium draft capital.

The question was whether the Rams had a true difference-maker on defense.

Since Aaron Donald's retirement, opposing offenses haven't had to spend all week building a game plan around one defender. That changes with Myles Garrett.

Garrett isn't just another Pro Bowl player. He's the type of pass rusher who can force offenses to alter protections, keep extra blockers in, and abandon parts of the playbook entirely.

Why did Rams Super Bowl odds move from +750 to +550?

The Rams didn't jump from +750 to +550 simply because they added a star player. They jumped because Garrett addresses one of the few remaining weaknesses on an already-contending roster.

Los Angeles finished 10th in points allowed per game last season, but ranked in the bottom half of the league in passing yards allowed.

Garrett gives the Rams an elite pass rusher capable of disrupting opposing quarterbacks without extra blitz help, helping explain why oddsmakers elevated Los Angeles to the top of the Super Bowl board.

Whether the price is justified remains to be seen, but oddsmakers clearly believe Garrett gives Los Angeles something it has lacked since Aaron Donald's retirement: a defensive player capable of taking over a playoff game on his own.

49ers vs Rams Week 1 odds

The Super Bowl market wasn't the only one impacted by the Garrett trade. Sportsbooks also adjusted the Week 1 line between the Rams and 49ers, with Los Angeles seeing an immediate bump following the acquisition.

According to Covers' Jason Logan, Garrett's arrival moved the Rams from -2.5 to as high as -3.5 against San Francisco, a significant adjustment considering non-quarterbacks rarely generate this type of movement on their own.
