The Arizona Cardinals walk into a Wild West shootout with the Dallas Cowboys but find themselves outgunned in Week 8.
Arizona has struggled to score in recent weeks but remains committed to quarterback Jacoby Brissett for at least one more game.
My Cardinals vs. Cowboys predictions don’t see enough firepower on the field for the visitor, leading me to my early leans and NFL picks for Nov. 1.

Early Cardinals vs Cowboys spread pick: Cowboys -6.5
The Dallas Cowboys come back home on a short week, laying just shy of a touchdown to the Arizona Cardinals.
Dallas’ offense snapped out of a two-game slumber on Monday, scoring points on seven of its nine possessions in a runaway 38-21 victory at Philadelphia. A balance of pass and run kept the chains moving, going 9 for 14 on third/fourth downs.
The Cardinals have shown fight in the early workings of the schedule, but inconsistencies on offense and injuries to the rushing attack have clipped their wings. Arizona is averaging a measly 0.255 points per play over its last three games, the third-lowest mark in the league.
This trip to Arlington feels similar to the Cardinals’ Week 5 loss to Detroit. Much like Dallas, the Lions boast a potent offense but a dreadful defense. They were able to overwhelm Arizona in a 45-21 victory despite giving up a ton of passing gains.
The Cowboys are playing their first normal home game since Week 2 (having last played at AT&T Stadium in a TNF loss to Tampa Bay in Week 5). They tend to be extra explosive on the fast track at Jerry World, so I’ll lean Dallas as long as it's laying less than a touchdown.

Early Cardinals vs Cowboys total pick: Over 54.5
When Dallas wins, it does so in shootouts. All three victories have eclipsed the closing total by an average of more than 12 points, including MNF’s finish.
Part of that is the soft Cowboys secondary that hasn’t discriminated when it comes to quarterback competition. Be it MVP or backup QB, everyone looks good against the Dallas defense.
The Cardinals' stop unit is almost as porous. They have faced some very good QBs to start the season and face perhaps the most dangerous two-man WR attack in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens in Week 8.
Arizona runs one of the highest rates of zone coverage on defense, and both of those WRs are incredible zone busters, along with Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, who ranks Top 10 in completion percentage and passer rating vs. zone schemes.
This current total of 54.5 points is one of the highest numbers of the season, and so far in 2026, closing totals of 53 or higher have produced a 5-2 O/U record. It’s Over or nothing for me.
