Jacksonville will capitalize on its bye-week rest against a shorthanded Colts team.

Indianapolis dropped to 2-5 SU after suffering its third consecutive loss this past weekend, and the losing streak might not end anytime soon.

Daniel Jones and the Colts travel to EverBank Stadium as sizable 9.5-point underdogs to face the division-leading Jaguars in Week 8.

My early Colts vs. Jaguars prediction and NFL picks have Jacksonville winning comfortably against a Colts roster that appears to have its sights set on 2027 and beyond.

Early Colts vs Jaguars spread pick: Jaguars -9.5

Playable to 53%.

You should be actively looking for opportunities to fade the Indianapolis Colts until the market proves that it has adjusted accordingly.

On Tuesday, the Colts traded star left guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks early in the afternoon. Later in the day, they sent standout defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the 49ers, signaling a clear and obvious focus on building the roster for 2027 and beyond.

Through seven weeks, the Colts rank a respectable 15th in my schedule-adjusted success rate ratings, but interim general manager Ed Dodds has seemingly decided that the organization is better off turning their attention to the future, rather than investing in a team that is 2-5 SU — facing an uphill battle to the playoffs.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sit 6th in my schedule-adjusted success rate ratings, will be at home this weekend, and are fresh off a bye week. This game could get ugly, especially if Indianapolis executes more trades before Sunday.

Early Colts vs Jaguars total pick: Over 46.5

Playable to 53%.

Even before trading away Buckner, the Colts were already struggling on the defensive side of the ball.

Two of the team's better pass-rushers, Michael Clemons and Arden Key, are currently on injured reserve. The team's top cornerback, Sauce Gardner, suffered an injury in Week 6 and missed this past weekend's game against the Vikings.

Indianapolis ranks 14th in my schedule-adjusted defensive success ratings through seven weeks, with Jacksonville slightly behind at 17th. Neither team has an elite defense, but both boast above-average offenses.

Expect Daniel Jones and Trevor Lawrence to have success moving the ball through the air on Sunday against pass defenses that are below the league average in EPA per play allowed.
