The Chargers are the NFL's last winless team, but our expert thinks they can drop the "0" off their bye week.

Coming off their bye week, the Los Angeles Chargers have their easiest road trip of the season, sleeping in their beds and using their own locker room against their stadium neighbors in the Los Angeles Rams.

My early Chargers vs. Rams predictions and NFL picks think the Chargers will respond with their first cover in what's been a disappointing year.

Early Chargers vs Rams spread pick: Chargers +6.5

We’re taking a flyer, assuming that things can’t be as bad as they’ve seemed for the Los Angeles Chargers. We’ll stick with the upset until about 53%, or jump to the straight-up moneyline win if the probability stays below 30%.

The Chargers’ Week 7 bye was their most successful Sunday of the season. Up until then, they’d lost all six games, failing to cover any of them. The Chargers haven’t come closer than six points in any game, rank last in the league in offensive EPA/play, and have lost by 12 at home in both games where they played a team that currently has a losing record.

The bye helped them get healthy, however. Joe Alt and Kayode Awosika are back, replenishing 40% of their offensive line. Receiver Ladd McConkey is practicing again this week as well.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Rams have lost WR Devante Adams and DT Poona Ford in the past two weeks, and receiver Puca Nacua is battling an injury, too.

Early Chargers vs Rams total pick: Over 43.5

Getting the line healthy should help Chargers’ QB Justin Herbert, RB Omarion Hampton, and McConkey look like the offense that had them as a trendy preseason pick to win the AFC West.

The Rams appear to be a good “get well” defense for the Chargers O. They’ve given up 30 or more twice and 20 or more two other times in the last five games.

The Chargers' defense looks decent in EPA rankings, but they’ve given up at least 22 in every game this year. Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel had the bye week to tinker with schemes, and the Rams have already shown a tendency to play with their food this season, suffering the biggest upset loss in the NFL so far this season, to the Cardinals at -13.5.
