Early Cardinals vs 49ers spread pick: 49ers -8.5
There is a little cushion here, as I'd trade the San Francisco 49ers up to -9.5 because they were 11.5-point favorites on the offseason look-ahead line. That's too much of an upgrade from the Arizona Cardinals upsetting the Chargers in Week 1.
Something is off with the Chargers, who lost to the Raiders in Week 2 by the same 26-14 score. This means the Chargers could have been overrated by the market to start the season. So, how much credit do we give the Cardinals for that win?
I'm downgrading Arizona after getting crushed 31-7 by the Drew Lock-led Seahawks on Sunday. The 49ers are 6-2 straight up in their last eight meetings with the Cardinals, and all five of those wins were by at least 16 points.

Early Cardinals vs 49ers total pick: Under 47.5
I'd be willing to entertain a trade on the Under down to 45.5, but I wouldn't go much lower.
Arizona QB Jacoby Brissett would be one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL. Unfortunately, Brissett is a below-average starter at best. He put up some numbers against the Chargers. But was Brissett playing well or the Chargers playing poorly?
The Niners suffocated the Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins in Weeks 1 & 2. The Under 47.5 cashed in San Francisco's 27-7 win over the Rams. The 49ers beat the Dolphins 35-13, cashing the Over 45, but Miami scored a meaningless 77-yard touchdown with 2:30 remaining.
San Francisco has the slowest pace in the NFL. As in their first two games, I expect the 49ers to get up big early and sit on the lead.
