It was a historic performance for the Indianapolis Colts' offense last week, and now they will host one of the best defenses in the NFL when the Denver Broncos come into Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, September 14.

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.
Early Broncos vs Colts spread pick: Broncos -2.5
The Indianapolis Colts' offense under Daniel Jones was the first team since at least 2000 to score points on every single drive. However, a lot of that can be attributed to how bad the Miami Dolphins' defense is.
Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos have the defending NFL Defensive Player of the Year and a couple of others who are contenders to win it this year.
They just held the Tennessee Titans to only 133 total yards and 12 points despite the offense and special teams turning the ball over four times.
The Colts didn't turn the ball over last week, but that may be more on the Dolphins' defense. Jones had nine turnovers last year in his 10 starts at quarterback for the New York Giants, and although he has a better team around him now, it's not by much.
The Broncos won 31-13 last year at home against the Colts and I expect their defense to have a similar type of performance. I would also expect them to clean up the turnovers on offense and perform much better.
Early Broncos vs Colts total pick: Under 42.5
I'm not sure if this is any indication of how bad the Dolphins will be this year, but the Colts held them to only 211 total yards and eight points. They were especially good in pass defense, forcing two interceptions and allowing only 133 yards on 31 pass attempts.
The run defense was Indy's biggest concern entering the season, and while it allowed only 78 yards rushing, that was only on 12 attempts. In a game where the Colts are underdogs, this could be a major issue.
However, the run game will help slow the game down, allowing the Broncos to control the time of possession. Denver won the TOP battle 32-28 over the Titans despite turning the ball over four times.
With the combination of great passing defense on both sides and likely fewer turnovers, I love the Under here. There will be a lot of running on both sides and likely more field goals than touchdowns when the offenses do reach scoring range.
