Georgia Tech’s recent bad habits have begun to jeopardize what was once a clear path to the ACC title game — and by extension, the College Football Playoff.

If those issues aren’t fixed immediately, Pittsburgh could slide into contention for those same opportunities, though the Panthers would still need help along the way.

My Pittsburgh vs. Georgia Tech predictions acknowledge the high stakes here and, surprisingly, question the Yellow Jackets’ physical toughness.

Read one for my college football picks for Saturday, November 22.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech prediction

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech best bet: Ja'Kyrian Turner Over 51.5 rushing yards (-114)

Betting on a running back to clear a prop for only the third time in a season at -114 juice may seem foolish, but focus on how bad the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have been against the run lately.

Syracuse, North Carolina State, and Boston College are all wretched offenses, yet they combined for 600 sack-adjusted rushing yards in the Yellow Jackets’ last three games. They averaged 6.1 yards per carry.

Brent Key has built his tenure in Atlanta on physical line play, but Georgia Tech’s defensive front has failed to close this season.

The Pittsburgh Panthers prefer to throw the ball, doing so at the second-highest relative rate in the country, behind only Hawaii.

But if ever there was a time to lean into the ground game, it is now. And that should come via running back Ja’Kyrian Turner as veteran Desmond Reid battles injuries.

Plus, Reid serves well as a receiving option.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech same-game parlay

Georgia Tech's defensive struggles of late are just too immense to overlook, no matter how hard-nosed Haynes King will inevitably play against a Pat Narduzzi defense.

Frankly, Pittsburgh pretty clearly did not care about beating Notre Dame last week, and that blowout has added value to the Panthers' moneyline this week.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech SGP

  • Ja'Kyrian Turner Over 51.5 rushing yards
  • Pittsburgh moneyline
  • Haynes King anytime touchdown

Our deep-ball SGP: Ground Attack!

Pittsburgh should lean into its ground game for once; it will be the first time all season.

Doing so will take away from Mason Heintschel’s stats while still helping the Panthers’ offense.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech SGP

  • Ja'Kyrian Turner Over 51.5 rushing yards
  • Pittsburgh moneyline
  • Haynes King anytime touchdown
  • Mason Heintschel Under 292.5 passing yards
  • Pittsburgh team total Over 29.5

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech game predictions

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech moneyline prediction

If Georgia Tech’s fundamental identity is fracturing, and that defensive front indeed suggests it is, then betting on Pat Narduzzi with an additional week of prep makes sense.

Yes, an additional week of prep, as Narduzzi was rather public about Pittsburgh focusing more on Georgia Tech last week than last week’s opponent, Notre Dame. And it showed on the field.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech spread prediction

This spread being within a field goal would be stunning to someone in September, when Pittsburgh was still starting Eli Holstein and Georgia Tech had already upset Clemson. Little did we know Heintschel existed or that Clemson was rather average this season.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech Over/Under prediction

This total of 55.5 may look hefty for a Narduzzi game against a physical roster, but if Pittsburgh can move the ball efficiently both through the air — the Panthers’ usual — and on the ground, then that should quickly put this Over within reach.

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech odds

  • Spread: Pittsburgh +2.5 | Georgia Tech -2.5
  • Moneyline: Pittsburgh +102 | Georgia Tech -120
  • Over/Under: Over 55.5 | Under 55.5

Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech trend to know

As Georgia Tech’s defensive front has failed in the last three games, it is no coincidence that all three games cashed their Overs and by an average of 13.2 points. Find more college football betting trends for Pittsburgh vs Georgia Tech.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
