NCAAB Sharp Money and Line Movement Report

By Patrick Everson

This line bounced around a bit since opening West Virginia -3.5 Friday night at PointsBet USA. The first move was down to Mountaineers -3, then up to -4, then a couple of trips down to -2.5. As of 12:30 p.m. ET, the line is -3.5, with West Virginia getting 67 percent of bets and Oklahoma 61 percent of money. The total got to 146.5 from a 144 opener and is now 146, with tickets and money both in the 9/1 range on the Over.

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

The Sooners and Mountaineers met earlier in the season, when Oklahoma won 75-71 as a 1.5-point home favorite. In that game, West Virginia shot 14-for-24 from the three-point line, which means that Oklahoma was able to overcome its weak three-point defense — something that has hurt them all season. With that, there’s good reason to believe in the Sooners being able to get the job done again here.

While the Mountaineers shot well in a loss, the Sooners also happened to shoot extremely poorly in a win — well, everybody but Umoja Gibson, who was 8-for-11 from deep in that victory. Austin Reaves hit just one of his nine attempts from deep, and he’s a much better shooter than this year’s 23.7 three-point percentage suggests. Look for him to get it going in this one. Also, don’t be surprised if Brady Manek makes a bigger offensive impact this go around. West Virginia is very physical defensively, but Manek had just seven points when these teams met in January. Manek is generally good for double digits for this Oklahoma team, and you should expect him to reach that mark in this one. De’Vion Harmon is another player to watch in this one. He had just four points against Iowa State last Saturday, so he is due for a rebound here.

West Virginia has a ton of weapons, with Miles McBride being the team’s engine and one of the most clutch players in the country. However, Oklahoma is just a solid basketball team all around, and Lon Kruger’s group should be able to hang tight here.

PREDICTION: Oklahoma +3.5 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

When these teams met in January, they combined to score 146 points and hit the Over of 144.0. They did that despite the fact that the Sooners couldn’t get it going offensively. This time around, look for Oklahoma to come out and play a much better game on that side of the floor. The game might be in Morgantown, but home-court advantage isn’t as strong as it used to be. Teams have been a lot more comfortable going on the road this year. Look for the Sooners to be no different. Also, each of West Virginia’s last five games has gone Over the total, and two of those contests were played at home.

PREDICTION: Over 144.5 (-110)
