Quiñones' prediction: Scoring should come easily anytime South Carolina is involved.

The Oklahoma Sooners enter the Sweet 16 feeling like they hold the edge — or at least they might, after their eye-opening 94-82 overtime win over South Carolina back in January.

But this time of year is different. Teams evolve, for better or worse, and the women’s NCAA Tournament is an entirely different beast compared to the regular season. That’s exactly why the Gamecocks are out to prove that what happened before has no bearing on what unfolds now.

With both teams showcasing explosive scoring throughout the tournament, there’s a strong case to be made for plenty of offense — which is why I’m leaning toward the Over in my March Madness pick for Saturday, March 28.

Oklahoma vs South Carolina prediction

Who will win Oklahoma vs South Carolina?

South Carolina: The Gamecocks have made it clear they aren’t approaching this matchup with revenge on their minds against the Sooners. South Carolina is all business, a focused, no-nonsense group that refuses to dwell on the past.

Under Dawn Staley, outside narratives don’t penetrate the locker room. Expect them to treat this like any other assignment: show up, stay locked in, and handle business from start to finish.

Oklahoma vs South Carolina best bet: Over 153.5 (-112 at bet365)

No disrespect to the Oklahoma Sooners, but this best bet could be broken down on the strength of the South Carolina Gamecocks alone.

Their relentless, no-mercy approach has them piling up points, dropping 204 combined in their last two tournament games. Sophomore Joyce Edwards has led the way with dominant performances, including a double-double and a 27-point outing.

Oklahoma has been productive too, scoring 166 across its games, though a tight win over Michigan State raised concerns. South Carolina operates on another level in March, pairing elite scoring with a top-tier defense that should keep the Sooners in check.

South Carolina Team Total Over 85.5

South Carolina moneyline

As mentioned, South Carolina has no trouble generating offense, ranking among the nation’s best at 87.2 points per game, a number that nearly clears typical team totals on its own. With the way they’ve elevated their scoring in the NCAA Tournament, backing the Over feels straightforward.

That confidence naturally aligns with the moneyline as well. Beyond their on-court dominance, the mental edge stands out most. Dawn Staley made it clear the focus isn’t revenge, but progression: “We’re not motivated by avenging a loss. We’re motivated by advancing.”

With that mindset, expect nothing less than a businesslike performance and a trip to the Elite Eight for the Gamecocks.
