Minnesota vs Missouri Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight's College Basketball Game

This game represents the season's first true challenge for both Minnesota and Missouri. The Tigers will prevail, as the Golden Gophers will struggle to put forth an adequate attack.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers face off against the Missouri Tigers in NCAA hoops action tonight.

This is the first test of the season for either team, and my Minnesota vs. Missouri predictions are betting on the Gophers to falter in their first road game.

Here are my best college basketball picks for this non-conference showdown on Wednesday, November 12.

Minnesota vs Missouri prediction

Minnesota vs Missouri best bet: Missouri -6.5 (-110)

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are 2-0 with lopsided victories against Gardner-Webb and Alcorn State. Those teams are a combined 0-7 and outside the Top 300 (with Gardner also losing to a Div II school), so don't give them too much credit for those wins.

I have concerns about how efficient their offense will be against quality opponents. Leading scorer Cade Tyson is averaging 25.5 points per game on 62/46/87 shooting splits. Regression is bound to set in, especially when you consider that the senior could barely get playing time with North Carolina last season.

Meanwhile, second-leading scorer Jaylen Crocker-Johnson (14.0 points per game) shoots a pathetic 29.2% from the floor, and the forward won't grab his own rebounds against a decent frontcourt.

I have high expectations for the Missouri Tigers, who made the NCAA tournament last season thanks to a highly efficient offense and a defense that forces turnovers.

Former five-star recruit Mark Mitchell (20.7 PPG on 69.7 FG%) returns to anchor the frontcourt with defensive ace Anthony Robinson (14.3 PPG, 3.3 steals per game) back at guard. They added Horizon League standout Jayden Stone, former UCLA guard Sebastien Mack, and seven-foot rim protector Shawn Phillips Jr. through the portal.

This squad has plenty of size, experience, and depth. The Tigers are coming off a 39-point win against VMI on Sunday and should cruise to victory at home here.

Minnesota vs Missouri same-game parlay

The Golden Gophers play at a slow tempo, and since I'm expecting offensive regression, I'm leaning toward the Under 156.5.

Crocker-Johnson is averaging 15.0 rebounds, but it's much easier to grab boards against tiny mid-major frontcourts than it will be against Missouri, which ranks 10th in the country in height efficiency per KenPom

  • Jaylen Crocker-Johnson Under 10.5 rebounds
