Expert NBA against the spread picks: Oct. 27

Nets vs Celtics: Celtics -11.5

The Boston Celtics blew out the Bulls by 35 points on Monday and now face the winless Brooklyn Nets, who have a -11.8 net rating and a very poor defense. Boston has a clear edge in shooting, depth, and scoring consistency. Brooklyn's turnover issues will prove costly.

Tipoff: 7:30 PM ET.

Pistons vs Knicks: Pistons +3.5

The defending-champion New York Knicks have yet to win a game and have one of the league's worst offenses, averaging barely 100 points per game. The Detroit Pistons, meanwhile, are 3-0 and thriving on both ends of the floor, having already beaten Boston and Philadelphia. They also swept the regular-season series with the Knicks last season. I'll take Detroit with the points.

Tipoff: 8:00 PM ET.

Kings vs Spurs: Spurs -17.5

This is an enormous spread, but the San Antonio Spurs should capitalize on the Sacramento Kings' struggles. The Kings have already lost by 25 to the Clippers and rank 26th in defensive efficiency. For what it's worth, the Spurs won their three meetings with the Kings last season by an average of 19.3 points.

Tipoff: 8:00 PM ET.

Trail Blazers vs Lakers: Trail Blazers +2.5

I like the Portland Trail Blazers to hand the Los Angeles Lakers their first loss. While the Damian Lillard-Ja Morant backcourt has looked electric, Portland also has a major advantage on the boards that will be key tonight. They're averaging 50.5 rebounds compared to 37 for L.A.

Also, the Lakers had to overcome substantial double-digit deficits in both of their wins. The Blazers will keep rolling.

Tipoff: 11:00 PM ET.

Today's NBA against-the-spread combo

Polymarket

Celtics Celtics -11.5

Pistons Pistons +3.5

Trail Blazers Blazers +2.5

I'm rolling with a three-leg combo built around Boston's offensive firepower and two underdogs who have impressed early.

The Celtics should dictate the tempo against a struggling Brooklyn squad, while Detroit's defensive intensity gives them a great chance to stay competitive against New York.

I'll round it out with Portland, whose rebounding advantage and offensive depth could cause serious problems for a Lakers team that's been vulnerable defensively.
