Two 2-0 teams clash Sunday evening as the Toronto Raptors visit Target Center for the Minnesota Timberwolves' home opener.

My Raptors vs. Timberwolves prediction calls for a low-scoring affair when these teams tip off at 7 p.m. ET.

 TOP PICK
Raptors vs Timberwolves prediction: Under 232.5

Unsurprisingly, the Toronto Raptors and Minnesota Timberwolves are two of the Association's best defensive teams through the first week of play.

The Raptors added two-time Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard to 2025-26 All-Defensive selection Scottie Barnes, and Minnesota has defensive standout Jaden McDaniels playing alongside four-time DPOY Rudy Gobert.

Toronto owns the top defensive rating in the NBA at 88.6, and Minnesota ranks third at 96.1. The teams rank first and second in opponent 3-point percentage, and Toronto has allowed opponents to shoot the least efficient field-goal percentage at 34.8.

The Raptors and Wolves have allowed the second-fewest (82) and fourth-fewest (82.5) FGA and the second-fewest (97) and third-fewest (99.5) points.

The game total Under hit in three of the last four head-to-head meetings, and I'll trade this line down to 228.5.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Raptors have been the Association's most disruptive team this season, leading the league in opponent turnovers at 25 per game. Toronto ranked in the Top 8 in opponent turnovers in each of the last two seasons.

Raptors vs Timberwolves same-game combo

Both teams dominated their first two games with phenomenal defense, but Toronto has the edge because of its versatile offense.

Minnesota's offense takes 44% of its shots from beyond the arc, while Toronto's offense generates 32.7% of its shots from downtown, least in the NBA.

Toronto's offense has run through Scottie Barnes through the first two games. He's averaging 25.5 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists and ranks 10th in usage among players averaging 25+ mpg.

The do-it-all forward will need to be at his best against a strong Minnesota team. He's coming off a 47 PRA performance against the Wizards, and I'll trade this combo line up to 36.5.

  • Scottie Barnes Over 34.5 points+rebounds+assists

Raptors vs Timberwolves player props

Raptors player prop: Kawhi Leonard Over 1.5 steals (53%)

Leonard has swiped two steals in just over half of his career games, doing so in 405 of 800 appearances. He averages 1.7 steals per game and has recorded 3+ in each of his first two games of the 2026-27 campaign.

In a defensive battle with the Wolves, Leonard will need to disrupt and turn defense into offense. Toronto leads the league in fast-break points, and the superstar defender can keep that trend going with another exceptional performance.

Given Leonard's elite defensive skills and history of racking up steals, I price this line closer to 55%, making it a value at 53%.

Timberwolves player prop: Rudy Gobert Over 11.5 rebounds (46%)

Gobert finished with 15 and nine rebounds in his first two games of the season, and he corralled 12 boards in each of his two games against the Raptors last season.

Toronto's starting center, seven-footer Jakob Poeltl, averaged only seven rebounds per game across 25 minutes last season, and his numbers aren't much different in 2026-27, averaging 7.5 rebounds across 24.4 minutes.

Toronto's backup centers are 6-foot-9 or shorter, and the Raptors have no problem playing small ball, which will be beneficial for Gobert.

In what should be a defensive battle with plenty of missed shots, I'll trade Gobert's rebound line to 50%.
