Expert NBA ATS picks: Oct. 25

Lakers (-6.5) vs. Jazz: Lakers Lakers -6.5

The Los Angeles Lakers have posted two emphatic wins with their new lineup, while the Utah Jazz haven't covered yet. I'm taking Walker Kessler and the Lakers to cover against his former team.

Pacers (-7.5) vs. Nets: Nets Nets +7.5

The Brooklyn Nets have covered as underdogs in their first two games this season, while the Indiana Pacers haven't yet managed a blowout win. I'm backing the Nets to keep this one close at home.

Raptors vs Timberwolves (-1.5): Timberwolves Timberwolves -1.5

With a spread this small, this is virtually a moneyline pick, and I think the Minnesota Timberwolves are the stronger team. Throw in the fact that they're home, and I'm happy to pick the Wolves to cover this tight number tonight.

Magic vs. Knicks (-7.5): Knicks Knicks -7.5

Both the Orlando Magic and New York Knicks are looking for their first win, but the defending champs look closer to last year's form. I'm backing the Knicks at home.

Clippers vs. Thunder (-15.5): Clippers Clippers +15.5

There's a huge talent gulf here, with the Oklahoma City Thunder outclassing the Los Angeles Clippers across the board. But the Clippers are 1-1 and have covered in both of their games this season, so I'm taking them to stay within the number.

Pistons (-1.5) vs. 76ers: 76ers 76ers +1.5

Joel Embiid may sit out on Sunday, but the Philadelphia 76ers still have enough talent to be on even footing with the Detroit Pistons. At home, I'm taking the 76ers to cover.

Grizzlies (-3.5) vs Kings: Grizzlies Grizzlies -3.5

The Memphis Grizzlies are 2-0 and have easily covered both games. I'm backing them to cover again tonight against a Sacramento Kings team that has yet to be close to winning this season.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
